oc'ing trouble

i used to be able to oc my cpu considerably, but it seems like once i ditched my ide's and went sata raid 0, i could no longer oc.i have an abit ic7-g that has that softboot thing (or whatever it's called) to easily change my cpu speed. are the 2 somehow connected? is it a dumb question? be gentle, i'm just learning.

some SATA controllers are more sensitive to overclocking. when you add in RAID0, that makes it more fragile.

Yep, the ide controllers are usually locked with the PCI/AGP bus if that's applicable in your case. However the sata controllers were'nt, I went through hell trying to overclock an AMD64 3200 S754 on a K8V deluxe board with sata raid. Must've reinstalled windows about a dozen times.

All part of the learning curve.
