Black, barcode like, lines on desktop

Hey,

When I started my pc today, My desktop was filled with black lines, that look like barcodes (the best I could describe them). Does this mean my videocard is dying (it only happened once before and when I shut my pc down and restarted they were gone) or could it also have something to do with my cpu running at 11x200 (vcore 1.75V) and my corsair twinx XMS pc2700 cas2,2,2,5 running at pc3200 cas 3,3,3,6?

....usually that a sign from your video card.... BUT it could be your memory as well..

Try setting default clocks and see what happens..

Also..... underclock your video card to see if the problem goes away..... (to see if it's a heat related issue)

I hardly ever have it and after a restart it's gone, so it might take a while before it reappears

I have the same problem. It is caused by the PSU. Check your 3.3v rails. They are probably low. I have found that letting the PSU warm up first before turning the comp on helps...also overclocking the memory and proc has seemed to help alot interestingly enough. My rails stay a bit more stable when OCing.

anyway It is probably your PSU. Especially if it happens sporatically.

let me ask you something, did you unplug your computer or move it or didnt turn it on for awhile directly before when this happened?

It was the first time that day that I turned it on, I hadn't used it for 6hours or something like that. But I haven't moved or unplugged it in a long time. But I do have a cheap no brand PSU. At the moment my voltages aren't really low:
CPU Core 1.76 V
CPU AUX 1.76 V
+3.3 V 3.31 V
+5 V 4.92 V
+12 V 12.54 V
-12 V -12.46 V
-5 V -4.72 V
I got these values using Everest home edition. This wasn't under load, just when I browse the internet.

your 5v lines seem a little low, altho they are acceptable, but apart from that your lines seem fine

your lines all seem to be fine.

Still since you have a cheap PSU and you left the computer off for awhile, that could have had an impact. Cheap and old PSUs tend to take a bit of warming up before they supply full power.

I honestly wouldnt worry about it too much. You could try cleaning the dust out of your PSU with one of those cans of spray air.

Uhg I dunno man. Honestly I'm having the same problem as you. I overclock and the problem seems to go away but my OCs have been kinda pathetic. Only 2.4ghz on my 2ghz Athlon XP. Most of my friends get theirs to 2.5, Ah well.

2.4GHz on a 2GHz athlon XP isn't bad. I don't OC mine further than 2.2Ghz. I don't really worry about it, I hardly ever have it. So I don't really care. I just wanted to know the cause of it.
Today I had it again, I started my pc, everything was fine, untill it loaded windows. The PC wasn't used in 7hours.

Todat I got them again, but my cpu was running at 13x166 instead or 11x200 and mem was running at specified frequency and latencies. I also tried to downclock my videocard and this had no effect.
