overclocking mobo 741gx-m with 2400+sempron

When I cold boot my system I get an error CMOS checksum error, boot priority changed.
I have used both fail - safe defaults and optimized defaults in BIOS. Both seem to give me the same error message.
I have config'd bios and changed frequency value from 166 (optimized value, to 200 ( overclocked value). Still error pops up.
If I press F1 to continue, BIOS stays same and warm boots are fine (all time). If I enter BIOS, do whatever change to freq, or boot priority sequence it never seems to rid this error message.

I am using programs like cpu - z and prime 95 for info.

Guess what I would like to know is how do I get rid of this cold boot error message (one way I suppose is to just leave my com runninng 24hrs and just do warm boots to get back resource power) AND

if I can get any info on overclocking my system without hurting anything.
Like I've mentioned I have had my mobo clocked up to 200 but in my properties General tab, did not register my cpu as a Sempron
The highest I've had it up to and registering is at 180
Would this be safe to leave my freq at 180 without doing any damage??

System Specs

I'm a bit fuzzy When you nave this problem it's all the time? or just when your over clocked?

It could be your bios chip craping out or bad flash...
Are you sure you have the latest bios?

Could be the battery on your motherboard is bad...
Shut it down unplug it....
After a cold boot...
Has your system clock lost it's proper time & bios it's settings?
If so it's could be a bad bios battery
Then I'd pick up and try one of the same brand and # (it's printed on the battery) it'll run you about $3-$4

Hard to tell... I'm muxh better when near the PC with the ISSUE
As for overclocking advise i'm not famular with SIS chipsets

Yes, the problem occurs everytime I do a cold bood with the fsb setting both at fail safe mode(100) and optimized(166).
I just bought the board and cpu a week ago so the battery SHOULD be good (you never know though). But NO, the clock hasn't changed and my BIOS version is 6.00 PG (according to CPU - Z) dated 08/31/04

depends how long the boards been stored, I've seen them go bad in less then
6 mo. unless you have the jumper set to clear... other wise it'll contenue to use
the battery to save the factory default settings ..... So it's hard to tell.....

I assume by "741gx-m" you mean http://www.ecsusa.com/products/741gx-m.html
if that so the SIS's factory max speed of 333 is holding you back becouse you
over clocking the boards chipset and FSB higher then spec. Youd be way better of with a nforce2 400 / kt880 chipset based board... Also ECS is a value very low end board maker. they make very very cheap boards and you useally get what you pay for. I'm supprized if you can o/c at all.
It's easier to overclock when the max fsb is higher like 200mhz fsb...

if the link above is you board the curent bios is ver 1.0a Release notes: BIOS CheckSum:4000H 1.Patch old K7 CPU without thermal diode can not install XP. http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/741gx-m.html
No realese date given tough....
