Roadee's Fastest Rig Comp.: Would you like an additional division for low-end PCs?

Right now we have three divisions (Super Modified, Pro Stock and Stock) each with two classes (one for AMD, one for Intel). Would you like a new division for low-end PCs?

For those whom don't know what 'Roadee's Fastest Rig Competition' is: see here.

one question, when u say low end, how low is 'low'? and also this ranges from cpu to vid card, right? i mean i see for the AMD Stock, the person with the highest score has a x800 xt pe. kinda hard to top that with a xp 2700+ and a 9800 pro...

for low end, i would think it would be more along the lines of anything lower than xp2500/p4 2.6 533FSB and no higher than fx5700/or 9600

I say the "low end" should consist of nothing more than a 9800XT/5950 Ultra... those X800XT's are hard to compete with....

well, i don't see why we don't have a low end competition. It's only fair to those who don't have an awsome rig like some of us to be able to compete amongst themselves. Everybody should have a competition they can enter their rig in.

I think its a good idea. Always did. I definitely reckon that the high end gpus need to be banned from that class.

A p4 3.0 with a 9800pro aint really gonna be much competition for a p4 2.4 with an x800xt due to the heavy reliance on on 3dMark. ( I know 3gig cpus are high end - just using that for an example)

I know that PCmark is included as well but to be honest, this is only a small part of the overclock. You cant really base the competition on CPU performance when 2 out of the 3 test results are based on graphics hardware.

I like this idea too. However, I have a 3.2 gig CPU, but it certainly didn't cost me any real "high end" prices. I picked it up for 250... and along with my vid card, the 6600gt, it isn't high end, cost me the same since it was the AGP version around 250. I would like it to be a cutoff, or at least a lvl for a rig like mine since i suppose, mine is no where near low end, but midrange stuff. I never shell out more than 250 bucks on any 1 component no matter what it is really. 500 for a vid card would be rediculous, I guess I would like to see a group where my GFX card and CPU lvls would be accepted into some sort of competitions. I am all air cooled, with no volt mods, and I deffinately can't afford to upgrade to a 500 dollar card everytime a new high end card comes out to be able to compete with some of these guys.

Maybe 6600gt/x700 be the card cut offs. Processors on the other hand, I am not sure, since most of these tests are heavily reliant on the GFX card, right?

I sorta like this idea also. What i really dislike is how water-cooling makes you automatically in the highest category. Just cause i water cool doesn't make my computer faster.

But hopefully for this new competition there would be different catagories just like in the ones now:Super Modified, Modified, Stock, etc...

That would be fair, as long as "midrange" and/or "lowrange" limits were set on CPU's and GPU's, because if you are having a watercooled CPU and GFX card, you should be able to push them farther than those of us who choose air. It just puts you in a differerent "bracket" in a completely seperate "catagory".

low end should be up to 2500/2600xp and 2.6 P4, with no more than a 9600/9500 radeon or GFFX5700 as 6600/x700/9800 are being sold as mainstream right?, i dont think i could compete to even low end but lol, whatever

yup. and you don't get all the goodies you get w/the registered version of it. just run all the necessary tests and hit ESC and that's it.

No, u just travel in the registry to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Futuremark\" and delete the "KeyCode" key on your product, after u've done what u have to do, u can re-register it again by the "Register" button when oppening the apps

that for the 3dmarks, for the pcmark is even easier, u open the app, right clic and "Unregister" and then when u want to register again there is the "Activate" button
