If you're lucky you should be able to hit 2.6-2.9ghz with a winnie. But it really is a gamble i've seen people hit close to 3ghz on air with some while others have problems hitting 2.5....But the latest cpu's week 44 and forward seems to have more potential, less crappy memorycontrollers...

Gexor is on a distinguished road

Yea I managed the same on stock hsf until my xp120 arrives

Yes this is my first post I am new to overclocking but not to computers, I just never thought of oc'ing my previous computer as it wasn't 100% mine.

This time is different:

Amd 64 3500+ Newcastle
Asus A8v Deluxe Rev 2 Bios 1009 (I will have to reinstall windows to correct the infamous via issue)
2x512mb Ocz Platinum 3200 Rev 2
ATi Radeon 9800pro (due to the via 4in1 installed at 8x agp with or without fast write enabled I get crashes)
120 WD Sata HDD
450watt SuperFlower Psu

If anyone can point out some tips on tightening my ram please do

Tightening your RAM?? You already are running it at cas2 2/2/5...i seriously doubt that you will be able to run it any tighter than that..
But you might wanna relax your timings a bit to be able to run it at 1:1..

See I dunno what I'm taking about

I'm stable (well for 2 hours) at 2750mhz I'm going to hold off till I get my xp120 on friday. Though I think I need to calm down with this stuff a little because I think I'm getting ahead of myself.

I might drop it off a bit get the os reinstalled and go from there. So addictive.....

Or if you starts to replace perfectly functional components as cpu's and motherboards just because they didn't overclock as good as you hoped they would...hehe (been there done that)
That's pretty stupid in many ways, because if you look at it this way: the idea of overclocking originated(for most people anyway) in the sence that you buy one cheap model and overclock it to the same rating as a more expensive one.
When replacing one cheap part for another one, same model and rating but hoping that this particular stepping will be a better overclocker. Just to discover that the new one wasn't any better with overclocking, it is then you realize that you could have spent all that money on the more expensive and faster component in the first place.
I wonder how many of us that has done that...

I don't know if that made any sence to any of you lol....I'm very tired just got home from work....(the nightshift.. )

Yea I've never had my own money before so I ended up just reading about good components

My system before was
AMD Xp 1800+
1 Gig of pc-133mhz sdram
gforce2mx400

So I figured why not go for something just a little faster
I'm 20 years old The way I'm writing this makes me feel like I'm 12.

School has been a funnel for my money, and I've dislocated my shoulder 3 times in less than year

Enough of my life story I want my Xp-120 and to fix my damn via problem.
