or try out Memtest86. This needs to be installed onto a floppy and run from boot up. |

Ok...well that is about the most useless manual I have found !!!
I think you might have a stick that has issues..but we need to find out which one Mig31 hit it on the head...we need to test each stick. Please remove all 4 sticks....clear the CMOS on the board and insert 1 stick into the slot closest to the CPU...now boot up to memtest (www.memtest.org you can download an ISO and burn it to a CD) Let memtest run for 2 passes....if no errors...power down...swap sticks and repeat until you have done all 4 sticks....my guess is that you will find 1 stick with some errors. Thanks

That will be the route you need to take.....yes it will be a pain in the ass but it is a required one also... Jason i just hope you do have the time to do all this.....but i will bet you have at least one faulty stick of ram...as the same problem happens on another system. |

At 200 FSB, comp would not boot at 2-2-2-5, but would boot at 2.5-2-3-5. MemTest produced 1000's of errors in a two hour run. There were Windows problems as well, with programs reporting file corruption. I removed the two new sticks and all was well again. Thanks for the quick reply. Rasta

Ok Rasta,
Are we working with the IC7-G in your sig? Did you try just the 2 new modules by themselves so we can see if we are having an issue with all 4 slots filled or if it is indeed a problem with the modules themselves. Thank You. |

rasta P.S. Here is a dumb newb question. . .these are DS sticks, yes? And do those two OCZ Part Numbers reflected in CPUZ represent the same OCZ part?

I'm having some trouble with my PC3200 Platinum 2x1GB kit. One stick is fine while tested alone, the other one errors within minutes at stock auto (on mobo) settings, with this screenshot showing the best I've been able to do.
CPU - 0508 3000+ Winchester Motherboard - DFI SLI-D PSU - 520 watt Modstream

Try bumping your Vcore voltage up just a bit then run Memtest again. What are you running for Vcore and Vdimm voltages currently in BIOS?

Vcore is fine, it's some combination equalling just over 1.6v, running working memory on dividers the cpu is good to about 2.35 GHz with the current vcore.
Vdimm is 2.6 with +0.3V disabled. I spent a lot of time trying everything I could trying to get them to work in dual channel, but I haven't tried anything higher with just that stick, I'll up it to 2.7 and run memtest overnight.

I believe that will help your problem by bumping up your memory voltage. It will easily accept up to 2.9v without any issues.

As long as you have decent active cooling you should be fine at 2.8v. Check out your results first in Memtest or other stability tests you prefer to see if the slight increase helps you out.

Alright, turns out vdimm was actually 2.7v before, vcore is 1.275x126%.
Upped vdimm to 2.8v. It seems that trp is causing some of the problems, trp=2 and instant errors, with trp=3, prime passed for quite a long time (14 hours, 31 minutes) before erroring out. The 14h test was done with trp=3 (stock 2) twr=2 (stock 3) twtr=1 (stock 2) trtw=2 (stock 3) I'll try upping the last 3 by 1, and letting it run again... any more ideas? As I said before, this is only 1 stick that's being problematic, the other stick will happily pass stability tests for days with 2.6v. (and trp=2)

Are you just running test 5 on memtest, or are you checking tests # 3 and # 8 also? If you use the latest Memtest version there are adjustments for A64 timings that you can test on the fly.
Need more info on your actual memory, which revision of the OCZ Platinum PC3200. If it is what I think, try 2.5-3-2-8 timings, with TRCD at 3 and TRP set to 2 in your testing please. On your winnie, stock Vcore is ~ 1.45v - you could easily run it up to 1.55v on the Vcore voltage and get around a 30 percent overclock. Steve Last edited by WxChaser; Sep 5, 2005 at 05:35 PM. |

Have been testing in prime mostly since my posts here, since I'm able to use the computer at the same time.
Memory is OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K, the 2x1Gb kit, of which I thought there was only 1 revision, using Infineon chips. 2.5-3-3-x timings work fine up to 220 MHz or so at least, but I got this kit for it's ability to run low timings at 200 MHz. (2-3-2-5 stock) My vcore is at 1.6065v, which is good to nearly 2.4GHz for the cpu. Quote:

Try 2.5-3-3-8 timings and see if that shakes out better. How high HTT/front side bus speeds are you wanting to run on an everyday basis?

Yeah, 2.5-3-3-x works fine, as I said in my previous post, but I'd like to be able to run at something closer to 2-3-2-x, which the ram is rated for (and which the other stick does with no problems).
I was running 260 HTT with my 1GB on a divider before, but I'd be happy to run as low as 245 or so with whatever memory divider gives me the best performance.

@ Widkidone,
Either of those should work just fine on your P4C800....The platinum kit should be good to about 215-230FSB and the Performance kit...maybe to 240ish. Hope that helps

ryder! i think i am having problems because my 4x256 sticks do not have high enough density. can you please exchange my sticks for(if they exist) higher density single sided? otherwise, if i have to, i will settle for dbl sided.
i think this exchange will fix my problem. thx

If so, I'll probably just RMA with my retailer, since I'll get free express shipping both ways with them.

@ Zelig,
Yes we would replace both sticks in the kit. RMA'ing through your retailer is fine...but OCZ will test replacements before they are sent to you...the retailer probably won't. Thanks
