heatsink modding thoughts

hey

i was reading ORB results on a 9800 pro, and some guy had his 9800 pro at 500mhz/410 core, and i was wondering why i couldnt get past 420/360, and it hit me like a train.

i need more cooling.

Since i dont have enough powerslots to hook more fans in, would it be possible if i could hook some copper wire up to my gpu and then hook that wire up to my case or to another heatsink or something?

No, thermal energy doesn't conduct like electricity.

Arctic ATI Silencer and decent thermal paste, much better than shorting some circuits and disappearing in a cloud of smoke a la Young Einstein.

People get those clocks by volt modding the videocard. They solder actual resistors to the voltage regulators that control the amount of voltage that goes to each. But doing so is risky. I volt modded my 9700PRO, but it didn't last too long afterwards.

Plus he was likely using water cooling or some form of extreme cooling.
