OC x800pro...should I?

Ok so, I have been debating on wheather I should OC or not...I see that it isn't the hardest thing to recover from a bad flash, but my consern is temps. I have a 3.4gh E P4 Prescott, wich appearenly run pretty hot as my temps are around 50-60c both idle and full load. That is with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185114, as you can see the fan is not on top, it actually points right at my VC...though when I put my hand between the fan and VC when on full load for a while it doesn't feel that hot at all.

So I just ask should I do this, or should I just wait and buy a new fan for the card when I have the money and do it?

The only real answer is: try it and see. As long as you take it slow and increase your clocks one step at a time, you have very little, if at all, chance of damaging your hardware so just go ahead and do it. If the card runs too hot during the overclocking process, you will see artifacts and lockups so when that happens, just back down and you should be fine. Having that blower will not help your overclock but merely reduce it's maximum level.

If you're not too sure how to procede, check out this article:

Alright, just wondering though. What would you say is a 'high' core speed and high memory? What kind of difference will I see?

lol...I was using the ATI tool in that tut and got the max core, wich is 534 (was 475) then I droped that to 513 and checked the mem and it was running fine so I figured I would run out to the car, come back in and I can't read a thing on my screen...artifacts everywhere and some warning, couldn't read it though. I could make out shapes so I was able to drop the mem a bit, save and reload the default and I restarted. Everything is fine now...but it scared the ever living shit outta me because when I came in my girl was using the toaster and I thought my card burnt up

In ATITool set the scanner to "more artifacts, less overclock." When you scan to find max speeds, lower them by 10 mhz. Run 3dmark03 for 6+ hours to check stability.

It seems like my card performs better in games when it is not OCed. Maybe I am doing something wrong?
