MoBos can bend, but they will only flex and not break or cause any damage to the MoBo so long as the hardware is properly installed. Pretty much, the best way to install a new cooling device is by taking out the MoBo entirely and working on a completeley flat surface is the best place to install a cooler.

However, with the coolers that you have listed, i do not feel that the MoBo will flex any unless you do not know what it is that you are doing.

As far as keeping your system for 2-3yrs. That is different from person to person. Some people keep upgrading their systems as soon as something new comes out (people like Zardon and Hawgshead come to mind), other people will wait a year, and other people will wait around a couple generations before they upgrade again (this would actually be 2-3yrs.), and other people, will just wait until their computer completely dies (which could be as long as 10yrs. )!

He also said something about fan vibrating so the mobo could get bent. I go tell him this right now!

the fan vibrating is nothing. all fans vibrate when they are spinning.

Ya it will be fine..

People buy new computers to upgrade, not because if they have them any longer they will snap in half

Maybe that will work

My machine is a

AMD 64 3000 @ 2.5 GHz

1 GB Corsair Value Pack

Asus 6200 EN

ETC etc

I need better fuking cooling cuz of damn cpu or heating i tried the stock cooling mod, anit happy.
WHat's weight on Thermaltake Silent Boost for K8. Does thing thing even compare with the XP90 or Big Typhoon?
Question: Doesn't the Silent Tower Weight a lot anyway? So what would be the difference if i got the XP90 over the K8? Big Typhoon weighs a lot i know.

ok, so is your dad concerned on if the MoBo will flex downwards because of the HSF assembly's weight? Your rig is pretty good. what are your current temps that you are getting? And of the ones that you have listed, the XP-90 is the best cooler IMO.

Yup, that's right. I get about 36 when right software then going up to 40z in gaming. I put 2 more fan on top of gay original heatsink and still oonly getting 33 on idle, then 35 when softwaring and 38 on gaming. XP90 with a Antec fan will improve this temperature a lot. WIll the XP90 really Bend the mobo?

first of all, the XP-90 will not bend the MoBo in any manner at all. Period. I"ve worked with several of these already and nothing has ever happened to any of the MoBos that they went into.

secondly, the temps that you are getting are perfectly fine. what is it that you're freaking out about? CPUs are rated to go as high as 80C before they are to be shut down for temperature issues. You're CPU is well under that. Don't freak out man, my CPU does 50C idle, and i have one of the best cooling solutions on Air (ThermalRight sp-94 [now discontinued], and 92mm Vantec Tornado), and it has gone as high as 75C when i OC my rig.

CDs is right M8 on both counts! Your temps are ok, also I have a XP90 on my rig..........They are very light , if you decide to get one. They are very easy to fit and dropped my temps by over 12 oC.

But the main thing is dont worry about the temps you have, you mobo will take it as CD's said!
