Are there any risks of running a monitor at a custom resolution, or at an unsupported refresh rate. I am just curious, since I spent a decent sum on a new monitor, and do not want to ruin it.

running at an unsupported refresh rate will kill your monitor, i had one of mine die that way, custom resolutions are fine but they can somtimes streach the image on screen out of proportions.

Some will handle a little more on the refresh rate than Windows thinks they can handle, but I wouldn't recommending playing around with custom resolutions.

Why would you want custom resolutions and refresh rates? The monitor was designed to work with specific resolutions and refresh rates, and I can't think of any real reason to try and change that....
