Quiet <30dB fan

Could you guys recommend me a fan that functions at constantly less than 30 dB that still is good enough to cool a 1800+ XP w/ Thermalright AX7? (please... no "dynamic" fans)

Thanx

Panaflo Low I think, or a Antec Lighted fan @ 30 db, lol

A Panaflo L1A at 21dBa will be quieter than your Power Supply (unless you've got a fanless PS). 24cfm will be enough to cool your Athlon, but don't expect to overclock. Make sure to grab another L1A for a casefan.

Panaflo's of course or a regular Antec case fan. I would recommend a Mechtronics fan though and get a rheostat for it so you can adjust the voltage. You may find the slower fan may not do the job for you.

I'd definitely avoid the ThermalTake Volcano 7+ if you want a QUIET fan on your heatsink, the dang thing sounds like a freaking turbine when set to high. It works fine, just noisy.

THis is a sorta no win-no win situation.

You can use a a 8cm fan that gives at least 2800 rpm but it needs to be getting cool air and that means better case cooling and that means that the loss in noise fron the CPU fan will be regained from the case fans.

Or you can put in a high cfm fan on your CPU and have less case cooling but that will also effect the rest of your components(GPU,chipset etc.)

My best bet is a low noise cpu fan but only if its drawing air directly from the outside of the case(air duct to a blowhole).

Or you can get a better Heatsink like the slk-800 that will work with a fast 60mm fan just fine.

Its kinda hard to have it all .....like a rig that can overclock but isnt noisy and not pay a shitload of cash.

Ever wonder why people look for other solutions??like in water cooling etc. ??.......well it isnt just about better cooling .

KInda like the old days when we had a P1 without any fans at all ....hehehe

LOL @ Zarathustra I think i have one of those on my video card LMAO ...

Quiet is often hard to find
I was running a ThermalTake Volcano 6cu+ on the 1800+ it's about 38 db but I can hardly hear it over my 120 mm and the 4 80mm case fans I used.... he hehe

I've always been afraid to use AC blowers in my computer mainly because I have heard that they throw off all sorts of unpleasant EMI, and in my current case, that would be very bad, as they would end up mounted very near/next to my hard drives...

I am talking about AC blowers in general... however, this one sounds rather intriguing... I will take to give it a closer look - it might be exactly what I am looking for my custom built total DIY case...

Pics? Not yet - this was in a different thread somewhere around here... I'm still blueprinting, but I'm not so far along in the blueprinting that I can't change things around to acomodate larger AC blowers instead of DC blowers...
