??? Issue Uninstalling Old Drivers

Hi,
I am getting the common Console Launcher / Audio Control Panel errors and am pretty convinced it's because I am not cleaning up the old drivers properly, prior to installation.

I follow your instructions to the letter, however, when I reboot after uninstalling the current drivers, (your step 2), I move on to step 3, removing the Creative folders in the Program Files directories.

However, as I am doing this, because I have just rebooted, I think the PC is searching and installing Windows drivers, and hence as I remove the folder, it gets re-created. Then, when I try to remove, it says files are in use...

I then check in the device manager, and the device has been recognised.
I can't get beyond this point because each reboot after uninstalling causes Windows to be clever and reinstall it's own drivers.

Am I supposed to disable automatic driver downloads in the group policy editor before doing this, to stop Windows automatically installing them each time ? If not, how do you get around this ?

Any assistance would be appreciated,

Regards

Nigel

Did you disable the device installed settings?

Re: Issue Uninstalling Old Drivers

Not quite sure what you mean. I uninstalled the driver through device manager, but then upon reboot Windows attempts to look for its own generic drivers, and whilst I am removing the Creative folders, it's recreating them. I assume I have to prevent Windows from automatically reinstalling the generic drivers ? If so, what's the best way to achieve that ? I followed your instructions but due to this had to stop at number 2).
Thanks for replying so fast, much appreciated.
