Re: PAX PCI XFI All-OS-Driver V1.15

Installation works like a charm but there's still a problem on the device, there was a caution sign on the x-fi card and has a (WDM) letters at the end, I'll try to uninstall all and use driver sweeper then install again, i hope this works

Re: PAX PCI XFI All-OS-Driver V1.15

I have been having no sound with my win 7 install. I have literally tried every driver that has come down the pike! From all 'sources' I have been looking forward to this release , and I will give it a try after posting this message. Just a note on my setup. It's an Asrock 939Dual-SataII , 4gig, MSI 4890 Cyclone OC, X-Fi Fatality PCI. I'll post back.

Re: PAX PCI XFI All-OS-Driver V1.15

Ok, I am back and still no sound with win 7.. The install proceeds with out any hicups. The Creative volume panel shows on the taskbar but when I try to open it says " no supported audio device ". If I 'right click' I can select audio device. The Volume Mixer shows on the taskbar and has creative as default. I installed these drivers also in Vista without any problems.. My Vista is x32 and my Win 7 x64 .. Any other sound cards looking better at this time !! Win 7 support as well as Vista? I would change in flash.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: PAX PCI XFI All-OS-Driver V1.15

Just a minor update. I went to device manager and updated the driver from there, directing it to the All-OS Driver folder. The driver is now showing v6.0.1.1373 dated 06/03/09. This wasn't what was showing before I updated from there. The one installed at that point was dated 04/09/09. Still no sound however.

Update:
I also noticed that the driver that was installed had no digital signature, no biggie as far as I am concerned but I figured what the heck. So there was another on my system with the same version number and the same date with
a digital signature from Creative so changed to it.. And it made no difference.. still 'silent'.

Later

Update 2:
Sound is now working. Went into MSConfig selected boot advanced option and changed memory to 3 gig from 4 gig.
I don't have any games installed on 7 yet , so I am only playing system sounds at this point. I am going to change back to the 4 gig and activate 'Memory Hole" in bios. My Vista though working will crash randomly in games, so perhaps this is involved.. I am going to try this 'bios' option simply because I hate disabling ' 1gig ' of ram.. I need to see if the memory hole option does the same..

Will check back and post again.

Update 3:
No 'Memory Hole" option in my bios.. So I am glad that MSConfig worked. As an aside note, there is also a setting to enable both cores at boot. I enabled that also and it is woking fine. Did play an mp3 with Windows Media and it work'd . So , summery is working but have to disable 1gig of mem thru MSConfig..

Later

Re: PAX PCI XFI All-OS-Driver V1.15

Rob, I think you should release the drivers beforehand to Beta Testers and then take it from there, Maybe start a Beta testing Mailing list, and ask who would like to join. Every time you update your drivers you can send the Beta testers a direct link to download and wait for feedback. =)

I'm using Windows 7 x64. With previous driver set (v 1.10) I've got Volume Panel, with this one I can't get it anymore... why?
