Re: PAX Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit Audigy XP V 1.00
Rob,
First time trying your driver mod. I am desperately searching for a driver for the Audigy SE for XP which will allow me to unmute both the mic and the AUX paths at the same time. Ideally the driver would also unlink the Record and Playback for mic, AUX, and Line-In as well. Is it possible to allow this with a driver change?!?!? The reason for this is that I would like to be able to unmute the mic path (so it is full duplex) while having AUX selected for Record. There is a program I use (for ham radio) which I need to have the mic playback as the input to my radio, while recording the audio using the AUX input. Most sound cards allow this. This one has the nice dynamic range I need, but apparently won't allow independent AUX and mic. Creative support has been zero help. Thanks for any insight you can provide. |

Re: PAX Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit Audigy XP V 1.00
Thanks. I only recently purchased it (eBay) and it is the only Low Profile SB card. Pretty miffed really that it cannot unmute more than one of the analog paths.

Re: PAX Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit Audigy XP V 1.00
I do believe that is a hardware limitation of the SE card, not something that can be fixed with drivers. Do you need low profile?

Re: PAX Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit Audigy XP V 1.00
Tyrsonwood,
That is what I have been trying to find out...if this is a hardware limit or something that can be changed. I had asked someone with Win7 to try and unmute both AUX and mic to see if it worked there. The answer from Creative was "maybe it is supposed to work that way". There is nothing in the docs about it. I had never run into a card that worked that way in the past. Yup...need LP. Otherwise I would be using my Turtle Beach SantaCruz card. I am a bit wary of other inexpensive cards. I have tried the ultracheap "Startech", but it is noisy (constant tone on the analog audio). SIIG offers a LP card for around $40 which is 20 bit analog which gets 90dB SNR. Not as good as the SE at 100dB SNR and it is $20 more. Effectively I will pay $60 for it if I cannot sell the SE to someone. I have no need for the 5.1 or digital stuff. I only need stereo for my application. I will use a different sound card or the built in for Windows related sounds. Thanks for your comments! |
