Low quality settings for FSX

I use a X-FI Xtreme Gamer Soundcard and have problems with the
Microsoft Flight Simulator X. A possibility to fix the problem is to set the Soundqualiy to 8000 Hz. (Control Panel ~ Sound ~ Playback ~ Speakers ~ Properties ~ Advanced etc.). But the lowest quality to adjust is 44100 Hz.
I use Vista64 and find no driver that support this. Can anybody help me ?
