Help! Can't install any driver for my SB X-FI USB 5.1 Surround Pro

Hi,

I'm new here, but I have this issue for almost one year now.

I try every new version of the PAX-Suites, but I always get the same problem:

When I try to install the driver (this time: PAX X-FI Surround Pro 5.1 USBV1.00), it tells me, there can't be supported hardware found on my pc.
This is a lie!
The damn SB is connected via USB! And it works with the Microsoft-Driver (crappy...).

The same thing happens, when I try to install the stock Creative-Driver from CD or from the website.

It keeps telling me I do not have supported hardware.

I used DriverSweeper 3.00 (released TODAY!) and of course, uninstalled all Creative-Software from my PC.

Also I tried every USB-port.

I even killed the drvsearch-process when I plug in the SB after removing it from device manager, to prevent the installation of the MS-thing.

So, what can I do to use the beloved Console Launcher and the Control Panel?

I managed to install at least the driver by scanning the extracted folder for .inf files, so now the vendor shown in details is Creative, not MS.

Please help, I love my SB, but at present its almost useless.

Might help: The sh*t began, when I tried to install an older PAX about one year ago.
My system: Sony Vaio Laptop, Win7x64Ult, lastest updates

You have your device id it might be missing it?

I will take look abit later let you know. You sure the one from creative web site didn't work? You may have send in get fix it could be bad egg that you have did you have another labby to try?

I'm quite sure it will work with another pc, but I want I to work on this machine....

I've also tried each driver (1_0098beta, 1_0099) from creative website, every time the same error.

Your ID not in there that why

. It is SB1095 usb correct?

I don't know, where can I find that ID?

Just downloading your modified version.

I used the .inf file with 1095 in its name and it installed, but still unable to open any creative utility.

Can wait till the download is done -.-

EDIT: Just twisted the SB, its a SB1090, serial: YDSB10909390025**YY

EDIT2: I'm not sure, but I might have tried to do a firmware update a year ago, could this have caused the problems? As said, I'm not sure about that, could have been another device :-P.

Just tried the one in your link v1.05:

"Setup can't find a supported product on your system. Please check before another execution of setup, if your product is installed properly. Setup will be aborted"

(the message is german for me, because I am german, so I translated it)

Exactly as every other driver I try :'(

But the microsoft crap always works....

Just to make sure: I have to extract the archive to a folder and hit "setup.exe"?

Or anything else?

ya or try WDM installer.

Click on driver folder the setup folder it self try that way.

Thanks for your effort, any other ideas?

I think somewhere on my PC is a damaged .dll of .inf file, that irritates the driver or sth. Or my registry contains a wrong value.

Can you give me some advices what I have to check?

Uhm.... about.... never, got the machine 04/2010, was not necessary, everything else incl. speed is fine.

I'm ashamed to admit, but I managed to install one stock microsoft driver and now I am really lucky with it, because it offers the same number of settings as creative should.

And the sound is better than every creative driver I used before (when these worked...)

Not sure if I understand ur question, at present I use drivers from M$, who can be configured during the speaker settings. Creative doesnt appear anywhere. I have the CD with drivers that came with the SB, but it doesnt work for me as yours and creative's drivers.
