Blair : Western Values must triumph over radical Islam

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/...air/index.html

this is the most outrageous line of crap I have heard yet...

and people wonder why American and English governments are racist.

I am sorry, but the world will continue to remain in turmoil if we subscribe to the notion that our way is the best way for the world to embrace peace...

Our policies and our wars and our struggles for world domination forced the hand of Muslims in many countries to become radicals so to speak...

where ever there is fear, hatred and a struggle for power, we shall see extemism albiet religiouis, political or any other....

Who says capitalism and the Judeo Christian work ethic is proper for any other country besides our own...

Can we force our values, our religion and our politics on others..I think not.

Show them democracy, lead by example, encourage peace and remain vigiliant but for the love of my God please dont tell an IRAQI that we can usurp their leaders, bomb their villiages and destroy their infrastructure and honestly defend the notion that our way is the best way...

I just cant believe Blair's hutzbah...

pure bullocks...
'
read the article and judge for yourself....

Bush I can understand...he cant help himself.....he is a Texan, but Blair....I expected more from him...

Quote from the speech;

"We need to make it clear to Syria and Iran that there is a choice: Come into the international community and play by the same rules as the rest of us, or be confronted.
"Their support of terrorism, their deliberate export of instability, their desire to see wrecked the democratic prospects in Iraq is utterly unjustifiable, dangerous and wrong. If they keep raising the stakes, they will find that they have miscalculated."

Do you have to be a card carrying member of the Hypocrite's Society to be a politician these days - what he meant to say was

"We're upset because you're not supporting the same terrorists that we are..."

In fairness I think that his speech was more directed at fundamentalism rather than at Islam specifically but it looks like he needs a new speechwriter!!

Pompey is on a distinguished road

oh my god! falstaff, I agree with you!!!!!!!

I believe in western values of democracy, freedom and (9 times out of ten) capitalism. I just dont think invading countries to spread it is the way to go. Look at Afghanistan and Iraq - neither can be considered success stories. Then we compare them to countries like Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE. All 3 of those countries have problems like the distribution of wealth and civil liberties but are developing and reforming quickly.

Oh and by the way..."Location: anywhere in a skirt" can be misinterpreted very easily…

damn…thank you for the lovely image in my head.

Too much whining IMO. Things are simple, the strong have the right to do as they please, the weak must endure their lack of strength and either get stronger or obey/follow the wishes of those who don't. The Bush administration seems (though I am not certain that they do) to have figured this out, while the Islamo-Fascists (I like this one) already follow it and trying to get stronger.

Hmmm - Im not sure if this is sarcasm or what..??
While it may be true I hope your not suggesting you prescribe to what equates to 'bully-ing'? - I would hope your looking for a change..??

Responsible use of power gains respect from peers, while abuse breeds hatred.

I had a boss that told me...
'No, Im not trying to piss you off - you might be MY boss some day'

Words to live by IMO.

I didn't say what I like more or what I support, only what as I see and know is the reality. I am focusing it more or broader, wider matters than someone bulling you.

Was the responsible use of the atom bombs that gave USA's peers respect? Was responsible use of force when Stalin discussing who gets what after the war and having as a leverage "how many divisions do you have there" a way to be accepted by his peers for his kindness too?

Again, I am not talking about what you do in your personal life so much.

Esaz666 is just really niceEsaz666 is just really niceEsaz666 is just really niceEsaz666 is just really niceEsaz666 is just really nice

I think we all need to take a step back from political viewpoints on these matters,
I have thought about this whole situation a lot in the middle east and our politicians role's in it all.
all this trouble is dividing our friends and all the countries in the west,
we must take action to come together on these matters,
America is our main ally to the UK but it is now fashionable to slag them off along with Tony B, who is rapidly digging himself a bigger hole as time go's on, he is making bigger mistakes.

Radical islamists attacked America for their own reasons and the American administration used this attack to excuse its own radical agenda, which includes strategic policies for the middle east that had allready been on the cards,Both sides have re-enforced each other in the world for thier own advantages,Its nothing to do with making anyone safer.

The losers in this are the civilian population ie.-- us , we have lost lots of freedoms in the name of terror, and unknown numbers of middle eastern people's have been killed ,but this is where we are at, we must now decide on the best route out of this situation, just keep squabbling or vote in peacefull governments who will in time create a stable situation, instead of fueling the fire of resentment.

we must apologise for our treatment of other cultures and be humble, for our politicians are creating havoc in the world,we must treat these people with the respect all people deserve.
There are some big upheaveals in the world coming very soon anyway, serious climate change, the oil is running out, China is becoming a big world power.
If we dont unite, expect much more of the same violence or much worse problems,Its no good demonising anyone Bush,Bin laden or Isreal or Islam.

what we need to do is triumph over these dangerous radical idea's on both sides.
