Ignorance and denial of history..is not a good way..and cureently i figure 80 percent of Amnerica has not got one single clue about what was going on then.
Give me a break, bluelight. If the proof of America's immorality is proven by showing that we supported him in the past, what do you say about the numerous pictures of Saddam and Chirac hanging out together?

What do you say about the French helping to build the Osirak nuclear reactor built in the 1980s?

What about the fact that Le Monde reported that between 1981 and 1985 40% of French arms exports went to Iraq?

How can you put the American position down based on 20 year old occurances, yet gladly ignore French involvement around the same time?

Na... I think it just means that the US and the French are more alike than they like to think. (Not surprising really since much of the American constitution was inspired by French philosophers). Hey I've got an idea for you JF, why don't you start a campaign to have the statue of liberty removed? She is after all French. (As is the word 'liberty' itself). I have said it before and I will say it again, the fallout between France and America is the direct result of two practically identical ideologies clashing. Where as the Americans believe they are the greatest nation on Earth and are utterly convinced of this, the French think they are the greatest nation on earth and are equally convinced. Both countries ideologies are deeply republican and very conservative - and much of their reasoning and motivations for acting the way they do are pretty much identical. The French ideology is the blueprint for what America is today. No wonder therefore you find it impossible to get along.

Mr Don is the pefect way of showing what you government is so yes i will contnue using him to show what they are about.

He makes it all very clear just by being himself and saying what he thinks.

You dont even need to make jokes about him.

And yes..i will continue supporting the French as long as they support the UN.....something that you dont.

I am not in favour of USA ruling the world.

As far as the issues of France helping Saddam in the past....i have adressed them several times.Im not saying France are without guilt.

Im just saying trhat all Americans portraying France as something worse that Usa are ridiculous ..or ignorant when using these arguments against France.

This because you are even bigger thugs than they are in this matter.

Thats all.So when the next "bright light" steps ahead saying...Bomb France.!!...Mr Don will jump out of his box where i keep him and explain things as they really are.....

As for the future of Mr Don...it seems he will go on repeat as i just started learnig how he feels about the use oif torture.....

This christian politician....will eventually be a legend....

Now thats sarcasm

I know this sounds equally as cynical, but if there is a world left by the year 2025, I hope the mythology of Personality Cults won't include Rumsfield....he is scary..

There hasn't been much dancing in the street welcoming the Americas and British as liberators. My prediction is even when Bagdad falls there isn't likely to be either. I mean I hated Maggie Thatcher when she was in power, but if anybody had invaded my country I would have been the first to take up arms. I expect that this is how many Iraqis feel about this invasion too.

Q
Could you elaborate a little more on Miss Thatcher please?

What do you want to know? Who she was? Well her and Ronald Reagan were bosom buddies... Do a search of Google and read up on your history. Maggie was the British PM throughout the 80's and Ronald Reagan pretty much loved her to pieces. Some people here may be too young to remember all this. But sadly I recall it all only too well. Many people remember Thatcher as being the epitome of evil, but I have to confess I have a sneaking if somewhat grudging admiration for her. When she spoke, everyone listened - and if you didn't listen, if you weren't paying attention then god help you. Yup, that was old Maggie, bitch from hell that she was, she sure didn't take any prisoners.

However the point I made was that if anybody had tried to invade this country and tried to remove her on my behalf, I would have been the first to take up arms against the invader. As much as I may have hated her, I care about my country more - and I certainly care about it enough to resent the involvement of people who have nothing to do with my country.

I think this is what we are seeing with the Iraqi's, I think that is why there is so much resistance - and why they are not singing and dancing and throwing flowers at the feet of our soldiers. This is how a lot of right wing pundits in the US envisaged this war. This is clearly not how it is shaping up to be.

Ok I mispoke. I know who she was & I too, have no fond memories of Uncle Ronnie . I wanted to know how you felt about her (from your tone I took it that you would not endorse her for dogcatcher & I wanted you to elaborate on her vis a vie your own views & European style Conservatism in general).

Well I don't know about that Jeff... I remember many fond meetings with Maggie and Reagan and have images burned in my mind of Maggie driving around in Ronnie's golf cart. I often here a lot of neo-conservatives referring to her fondly. Personally I would have only been to happy to put a bullet in her head (though I still would have resented an invader trying to do it for me) - so I guess that pretty much answers that other fella's question about how I felt about her. Conservatism in Europe is far too devisive - as is demonstrated by France's fracas with the USA. Here we have two very right wing govenments who believe utterly in their moral, ethical and intellectual supremacy. Can you imagine a Europe populated purely by conservative governments? There would be a constant state of chaos with each conservative govenment constantly fighting in a futile attempt to dominate one another.

Nationalism is always a dangerous and devisive path to follow. Americans will find that out soon enough.
