Pretty much as obvious as 2+2=4 to me... ...and scary to me that the GOP leaders probably don't feel a responsibility to lead in halting or reversing the warming trend - since they think if we didn't cause it, there shouldn't be anything we need to do to change it (a likely assumption on my part?).

Global warming/cooling is beyond our control.
It's cyclical in nature, and we can neither accelerate nor slow it. I find it interesting the the ones that are yelling the loudest about "Global Wariming" are the ones making a lot of $$ on it. (Algore and his "energy credits"). Those very same ones, generally have a much higher 'carbon footprint" as they like to call it that the average person. If Algore is truly so danged concerned about AGW, then why in the hell isn't HE cutting down HIS energy use, which is something in the neighborhood of 20x the average person's in the US? Algore's "Inconvenient Truth" is should really be called "Convenient Lies", as it was designed to help that "Snake oil salesman" fleece the poor suckers that believe in it.

Bah Global Warming is happening but one volcanic eruption emits alot more than we can put out there in a year... That said have we influenced the speed of it? Perhaps but we really can't say with any degree of accuracy how much we have sped the process up by because we don't have any accurate data beyond World War 2 and it gets exponentially worse beyond then. Its hard to even compare data recorded today with data collected 10 years ago because instruments keep getting more and more accurate and our global network of readings is increasing all the time.

Global Warming/Climate Change/Global Cooling are spin words (as OldBuzzard said) for bullshit. So far all it has done is create economic markets solely out of thin air (carbon credits???) which governments are spending billions on to make sure they don't get fined???
We may have a slight effect on the global temperature (very minor though we should make the cows accountable ) but its so minute that its not measurable. The sun has far more power to change climate than we do.What WE should be focusing on is the pollution levels we create and how to manage them (ie reduce them) rather than the climate change crap. Pollution is a serious problem and is far more damaging to us and the environment and we are entirely responsible for it. |
