Spain's Olympic Basketball Team: Racist or Just Stupid?

Actually, perhaps it's the advertising firm that's racist, while the basketball team is just plain stupid. Both of Spain's Olympic basketball teams posed for an ad for a courier company (a sponsor of the Spanish Basketball Federation), while pulling their eyes back in a slant-eyed manner.

I think the Chinese team should respond by making an ad where they pull their eyes open in a bug-eyed manner.

Nah, most of those professional basketball players are just like kids and mean no harm. Make'm wash their own clothes once as a lesson.

Not suprised by this to be honest. It isn't the first time Spain has been involved in a racist incident. luis aragones calls Thierry Henry a Black Sh*t during a international team training session & I remember the Spanish crowd making monkey chants at black English players during a spain v England game. with spanish players running around with big grins on their faces & then there was the spanish fans at the F1 last year wearing gollywog make up to taunt Lewis Hamilton all because of the Lweis / Alonso rivalry.

I've worked / known a few Spanish people & they're were really sound, freindly people but the frequency of racist incidents in Spanish sport doesn't paint a pretty picture.

I think it's just because the sports teams get so involved, so pumped, and so radical in their "JOCK" position that what comes out as "we stomp you" turns into some raunchy racist fest. I seriously think the racism card is overplayed however. and while this is clearly a show of ultimate stupidity. It is not blatantly racist, only blatantly stupid.
I don't think many people today except the older black community in the U.S.A understand "true racism".
