Yeah this video isn't telling the whole story by any means, but quite obviously the guy isn't fighting back and I can't see how this beating is justified regardless of what the guy may have said.

My prior posts aren't based on videos though..... I've seen similar in real life. Most cops have a "power complex", other wise they wouldn't be cops.... it's part of their makeup, almost a requirement to be a cop. Some of them let this get to their heads and they abuse their authority. Seems it's getting worse or more frequent these days too.

He was being hit for (first) resisting arrest. He was then hit for not turning over on his stomach when directed while continuing to resist arrest. I believe the last few hits were out of line and he should have just pepper sprayed his ass

It sounds as if you know exactly what happened there.. I don't think it's ok to start hitting people (especially with the ferocity like in the video) because they don't do what you say.
You can't expect people to do what you say while you beat them.. they will be too busy to fend of the attack and trying not to get hit to even hear what you're saying.

But I guess you think it's ok to beat the crap out of people if they don't do exactly as is said while you beat them? :S

Really WTF? In the sense that pepper spray is certainly a less harmful way of getting someone to stop "resisting arrest" but seriously I wonder what perpetuated this situation. In any case, a law enforcement officer should subdue the "assailant" in another fashion before hauling off and wailing on the guy I mean come on pepper spray burns like hell but it doesn't leave massive contusions and broken bones it its wake.

#2 Also, they not only fast forwarded through parts of the video to make it seem like the cop was hitting him harder the also skipped the entire section between the cops showing up with his threatening movement to when he actually gets hit.



Sorry Judas, without any other evidence (missing footage and sound) this shouldn't even be considered an unprovoked attack only an over use of force at worst.


Something I also just noticed. When he was thrown to the ground it was onto his stomach (before any punches are thrown). He then flips over on his back. I'm sorry, if a cop throws you down, you f*ckin stay down unless you want to get the shit beat of you.

I think it's crazy you have to be afraid of the police.. even if you have done nothing wrong. It sounds like you just have to look at them wrong and they will see a reason to beat the heck out of you.

I would be so curious if you had the same opinion about the police once it happened to you SFOSOK... It's absurd they use that kinda force on anybody, it's just not neccesary. Once someone is on the ground they can just cuff him, no need to beat someone.

I don't know of anyone who wouldn't when confused or in a state of trying to protect oneself, try and face their attackers..

It doesn't matter what bloody gestures or words a person says, it doesn't ever give any reason for a cop to jump out, whip you to the ground and even make an arrest. But so long as the burrocrats keep making up rediclious laws that'll oventually make everyone out to be a criminal in any place reguardless of public or private property, oventually you will to eat the pavement in a similare manner.

Feel free to provide the rest of the video which makes even a remote suggestion that he's doing anything but standing on a corner, having a cop pull up tell him to zip up, him turn grab his coat and zip up.

Why was he told to do this, why did they even stop to talk to him... would this have occured at all if they had stopped in the first place.

Frankly it was instagated..... and i've personally seen it.... i've personally been purposely put into those situation. It's entrapment of a sorts. They try and get a rise out of you and then nail you even if it's not called for.

It's bullshit... and your intention of defending this attrocity is sickening. I've Relatives that are officers, and the video presented to them makes them sick as well.

Being from NYC, I can certainly state on a factual basis that MOST, (not all) NYPD are scumbags when they are on the job...

The guy was just standing on the corner trying to catch his breath (he is a disabled schizophrenic who was on his meds, not causing ANY trouble to ANYONE.) Now, I could see if someone called in a report of some guy walking around doing weird crap, but this guy was doing NOTHING wrong... the male officer just decided to stop, and get on this guys case just to button up his shirt because there was nothing underneath it. Now why that was even an issue to the moronic cop, we'll never know, but apparently the sight of an older black mans bare chest/belly was enough for the cop to do what most police in NYC do... Abuse their power.

The guy DID mouth off to the officer, about wtf was the problem with his shirt being open (like I, or anyone else would, since there is NO LAW against a man walking down the street without a shirt on), but other than that, he didn't do ANYTHING wrong. he didn't resist arrest, and when he was thrown to the ground, even the asshole cops partner was yelling at him to STOP BEATING HIM because the guy was screaming that he was disabled!

Freedom of speech has been taken away in NYC when it comes to addressing an NYPD officer. They can stop you or pull up to you for no reason at all and harass you, but If you talk back to them for any reason, they can arrest you for verbal harassment.

I have several family members and close family friends that were either on the force at one time, or still are, as well as some in the FDNY.. and I know without a shadow of a doubt, MOST NYPD officers feel they can do what they want, when they want, to whom ever they want, and get away with it. That would include some of the ones I know... that is why the FDNY HATES dealing with NYPD... because most NYPD officers are assholes...

I'm glad this was caught on video tape, it shows just how screwed up the NYPD can be... FYI, the female cop was trying to stop her partner from beating the guy the whole time, she even called in backup to break it up and have someone stop him, but he didn't listen to her, and she STILL gets in trouble... because she didn't try to "restrain" her partner... totally screwed up.... Like I said, their are good cops, but they usually get partnered up with the assholes, and they get pulled down when the asshole makes a bad decision...

Now I'm not some litigious zealot that feels people should sue for every little thing, but in this case, I hope the poor guy sues the NYPD for everything he can get, there was no reason for him to have sustained the beating he did, even if he did mouth off... freedom of speech, it's his right to say whatever he feels, the officer should have been professional enough to ignore it and move on... (think about how many other times there may be that this scumbag DIDN'T get caught beating someone, or shaking them down for some reason... he needs to be terminated from employment and locked up with the rest of the animals...)

I'm slightly concerned that each time one of these cop beating videos is posted which obviously depicts abuse of the law and excessive force there is a split among DH members whether it was justified or not...makes you wonder what the public at large thinks.

On a more specific note, I dislike these edited videos without sound but the fact is words are idle threats towards the officer and I've yet to see anything which justifies the beating the victim received.

We have to take a step back and think what is the purpose of the police.

They are here to help the society. They primarily do that through forcing people to obey laws.

First thing there is that the law has the be broken.

Second thing is that it is the violence is the last resort. It is true that only police has the legal right to use violence (that`s called state monopoly on violence - self defense is the only exception).

I see none of those two here.

Of course police has to have some authority in order to enforce the law - but in many countries it turned to reverse. Today, when you see a cop walking on the street, instead of feeling more safe, you have the urge to walk in the other direction. And that`s completely wrong, if you look at the reason why are they here.

Cops have been instructed to FIND/DIG for minor offences... and then always be off/gone during the major offences.

Reguardless of the situation, majority of people emediately harden up the moment a police officer is around because they have a growing history of finding completely absurd ways of giving you a ticket for unrelated reasons.

This isn't even considering the "quota" system where police have been forced to give out specific number of tickets within a certain timeline which turns it into a lotto for the general public... and obviously not a good lotto.
