Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to resign in surprise move
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican Party's vice presidential candidate in 2008, said on Friday she will resign this month, an unexpected move that could signal a run for higher office.

Palin took no questions after a brief news conference in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, members of her state Cabinet by her side. She gave no indication of her future plans.

If she tries to run for President the Republican party will be a laughing stock and Obama will get an easy win (whereas if a smarter candidate is chosen the GOP could take the election).

I heard she might do some tv stuff but that seems iffy, sure she could make a ton of cash doing it but Palin appears to be on a collision course with a political future.

No no, I'm sure it's just the press in combination with some default party mumbler wanting to say something about a possible run for the presidency at this point since they don't have anyone else to write about. After a few quiet years though, who knows. Someone has to run and if the Obama administration has good fortune for another three years then there's need for a sacrificial candidate.
