DC more dangerous than Iraq
This puts things in perspective.
Australian Shooter Magazine An interesting observation appeared in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week: "If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers. The firearm death rate in Washington , DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US , than you are in Iraq . Conclusion: "The US should pull out of Washington DC."

Re: DC more dangerous than Iraq
How about the number of uniformed police officers shot and killed in the line of duty in the U.S. for the same period, its alarming.
On our own streets, is a battleground. it often seems as if our own police are fighting a peace as well against hostile criminals and hostile citizens. being a cop, is almost as dangerous as being on patrol.

Re: DC more dangerous than Iraq
I wonder how much crime would go down if our 2nd amendment rights were not stifled and trampled on by permits, etc.
If crooks knew that anyone could have a gun on their person, loaded and ready to go- I bet those crooks would think twice about home invasion, carjacking, mugging, robbery, etc.

Re: DC more dangerous than Iraq
seriously, i think weapons should be allowed to be purchased by any american citizen that is of age that hasnt been convicted of serious crime...
i think a moderate permit system would be good as you dont want certain people coming across explosives or something with no records of it. but all handguns should be available for purchase, all armor, and most rifles and shotguns. the worst part of all these gun restriction laws is that it pretty much brainwashes naive people into thinking they are safer in a place with more restrictions vs a place with less restrictions.... criminals dont care if they carry illegal guns lol
