Obama wins 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

US President Barack Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
The Nobel Committee said he won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".
The committee highlighted Mr Obama's efforts to support international bodies and promote nuclear disarmament.
Mr Obama's spokesman said the president was "humbled" to have won the prize. He said he woke Mr Obama up when he called with the news early on Friday

He has done absolutely nothing to warrent this.

I mean come ON. He was sworn into office on Jan 20. The deadline for nominations fro the NPP was FEB 1.

Now someone PLEASE tell me what he did in those 12 days that was worthy of the NPP.

Really? Waterboarding approved? Torturing, Lying about starting wars? Oh yea.. Not going as fast as the REPUBLICANS want him to in Afghanistan. But that america resides only in the heart of the poor, and middle class of the U.S
The rich of the U.S will look on without any complaints as the children of americas poor
are sent to war for their profits.
They will say nothing because these wars pay for their bills.
Their yatchs castles and mansions
They will look on, lord knows they should go to a veriteable hell for what they are doing

But they dont care and so it is these same powerful people that Obama must convince to do good,
that is if he is honest.
But it doesnt matter whether he is honest or not, even if Ghandi or Christ where to lead america, they would fail, because the powers that be love money more than God or man.

The normal americans are the only ones who can take the future in their hands and build an america of greater prosperity, a properity that will have no comparison in history.
But such an america sleeps content with the "religion" perpetuated by their government and media.

Yes the american people are a passionate, and crazy bunch, but in mass, they are also a sheer unstoppable force of stupidity. As are most humans, we vote for one issue or simply because a guy is more likeable. We will vote for someone because of a name that reminds us of better times, and we will not accept as a whole that our state's senator sucks the big one, We've become lazy, because we've been pacified by the legal wrangling of corporations, that and the simultaenous advent of technology has kept us blind as we're entertained by newer gadgets.

The heart of the matter comes down to the simple issue that this democratic republic no longer is a republic, because in order to be representative of the people, you must REALLY know the people.

I personally find some of our senators, the president to be of the people but there are 500 douche bags, scumsuckers, bottom dwelling, money humping assholes that claim to also be for the people. and that my friends is the duality of a free society. That which makes it strong makes it weak, and what makes it weak will inevitably be dramatically changed. No matter how bad things will get it will correct itself, and the farther we plunge the more radical and most likely violent that shift back to balance will be. But if the right wing wants to continue it's Rhetoric of completely made up shit, I for one will continue to call them out on it. Calling democrats out for lying, sure I'll do that to, but Republican lies tend to be like a woman accusing you of fathering a child and expecting you to pay child support, but what she didnt tell you is shes collecting it from 5 different men because she found a loophole to skull-screw you.

Democrats may not be all the much better, but all the right people can say is their socialist, they spend to much, well guess what, come up with something better then No child left behind, stop shoveling crap and maybe we can get stuff done. Independents aren't a legit party either, especially with Senator Joe Lieberman and people that flip whenever it's convenient. I also get disgusted with the Obama bashing in this forum. For everything you can point out that Obama might have screwed up on I can poinbt out 50 flaws he's fixed from Bush, like oh he bowed to the saudi king, what being respectful even if not fully aware of every custom is somehow weak now? gimme a break. Maybe he should perhaps get shit done like you suggest they are doing.... Blanket statements aside, he's a polititian... his position before being a president was highly questionable, his position as president is just as questionable.....

He's has approved considerably larger amounts of "stimulus" plans and has continued to appear and talk about things in such a positive light yet without really see any action on it. Repeating the same thing, wording it differently to make it sound different or to seem like progress is being made...

It's all bullshit in the end.

Every word that comes out of his mouth may as well be something no one can understand.... Words do not do, noticeable action does.

What exactly has he upheld since taking office that he has stated he would do before doing so? I betcha the checklist hasn't even been really looked at ....

I think Obama probably should have rejected it but then only one person has ever refused the prize so it's probably bad taste to do so. He had no say in the matter so there's no point getting worked up about it.

The cooperate system is trying to "put lipstick on a pig" . They did a horrible job with Bush and Bush was the epitomy of what they stood and stand for. They are now attempting to show a "prettier face" , if they had continued with Bush or a Bush-like figure a revolt might have ensued so this is their tactic, unfortunately people are buying it. America will one day revolt against their "democracy"(hidden cooporate dictatorship) when this system starts taking far too many liberties with Americans lives, You might say they arent doing that, they are.....Iraq.....Afghanistan What are those wars for global safety or oil?
