It just came out, it's on youtube, watch it and tell us what you think, I'm a member of the movement but sadly don't think the outcome depicted in Zeitgeist will come to be until there's no other option or people are forced into it. And everyone knows forcing things on people isn't a good idea. Otherwise I am all for it and I would like to know who else is and what people think.
Here is the link to Zeitgeist: Moving Foward, once again it's on youtube so you should be able to watch it provided you make some time. Zeitgeist: Moving Forward | Watch Free Documentary Online Edit: The reason I don't think a resource-based economy could work in the not so distant future is you can't expect an imperfect species to have a near perfect system, the question is though, are we beyond the point of no return?

Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Foward
Your options are a tad restrictive. I voted "I support a monetary system", even though I would describe myself as a Socialist.
I disagree that selfish greed and profit maximisation are inherent in a monetary system. The desire to maximise one's own (perceived) welfare at the expense of others has more to do with human nature and the way that the societies that we now live in use competition as a method to achieve efficient outcomes. That issue aside, I'd love to see something like this achieved, but I think that the ideas of the movement rely, unfortunately, on a perhaps unrealistic level of human co-operation and technological advancement. Persuing larger and more responsible welfare states within our existing societies, combined with redistribution of wealth (both within and between nations), is more likely to achieve some of the economic goals of this movement. Social change is harder to engineer, but I think that a lot of what we see in the actions of our current generation, especially through the internet, brings some hope to this issue. If we look at what has been achieved in Egypt recently, but also at things like F@H, Wikipedia and the open source movement, these are surely steps in the right direction.

Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Foward
No, but I'm aware of the broad aims and ideas. Feel free to point out anywhere where I'm horribly mistaken

Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Foward
I'm not a member but I like the movement....... still not yet realistic, very far off from people adopting it.
Its good but a tad ideological and philosophical for most people to swallow, many people will miss out on this to watch "Girls of the playboy mansion", and sex in the city..... well humanity still has some growing up 2 do. These guys I'm afraid will become legends only after they die like all prophets(term used loosely)

Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Foward
Yeah.... unfortunately it'll likely take a nuclear strike.... a complete mass depopulation for people to get their shit straight.. and there will still be whinos out there still clinging to their materialistic and totally selfish idiology.

Oh and did I forget to mention Ugly Betty MY GAAAAAAAAAAWD, talk about shows 4 blondeeez. One thing I've learned is that the more you make women stupid and materialistic the more , men become power hungry selfish so that they can get these women ![]() But really more women are needed in these kinds of movements then you'd see a big change

Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Foward
Men are just as idiotic and following the same path..
There are more and more men growing up today that know less and less and are more interested in totally stupid and unintelligent or even creative things.. Men that don't know what to do at all.... it's pretty pathetic.
