Re: Egypt anti-protest to be law...

This reminded me of a famous graffiti, someone found a freshly painted wall and wrote "You shouldn't have bothered with whitewashing."

Hopefully this is just an unfortunate measure and not the announcement of things to come. Egypt can't move forward until people return to their jobs and start working, I'd really like to think that's all these people are trying to achieve.

Re: Egypt anti-protest to be law...

well in their eyes.. it's not being stupid.. it's taking full control due to having the power to attempt to do it...

and in the end they SAY ... it's for the people... yet in their minds they thought "Well i/we tried to control you..... damn you caught us"

Fact of the matter is that most recently the sheer size of governments and the amount they are being paid for the lack of OTHER people to actually pay them is getting to a point that is causing massive economic issues.

This whole "Trickle down" bullshit is just the pinacle of being totally laughibly retarded.

this image explains this quite well

Re: Egypt anti-protest to be law...

I have to say although I don't fanc this new law but i can understand why they would go for such a solution. Since the old regime went down , protests are spread everywhere in Egypt as every group of workers in a factory or so want to replace their managers because they are corrupt and had a bad history or simply was pro regime. This has and still damaging the economy and drag us down instead of going forward. Although I am fully suporrting people who want to throw out their corrupt management staff I think everything needs some time and the priority is for fixing the political conditions. For example out lectures go to protest everday at the university managment because they want the university president to step down because he is corrupt..etc. But they said to us they will give us our lectures in the morning and protest as normal and protest after they finish there work. I beleive this is the best way any protest should be done and it can in no way be criminalized. Other protests which could stop production cycle and hurt the economy should be delayed at the moment especially. So IMO it the law in theory could be reasonable but I have fears it will be abused against any normal protests anti government or something. So like I said I don't fancy such law and have some fears but I trust the new PM and so are most of the egyptian and he is doing good so far, he said to people in Tahrir if i couldn't solve your problems withing month I will come to protest with you. Everyone want to move from the transient state we are in to the steady state as far as possible.
That's just my thoughts and feelings and it could be true or false.

Re: Egypt anti-protest to be law...

The fact that there is a middle ground or grey area in which the law makes sense .... it doesn't prevent them from just simply declaring any protest they essentially want as criminal... reguardless of how it has utterly no effect on it.

it's a toe in situation.... and while they may pass the bill... and not act on it initially... down the road when a similare senario creeps up.. they will use it ... you can guarantee that..

even in canada similare "laws" were passed even in full view of the people .. without actually understanding the long term effects of it potentially. Worse yet is that some of the laws and acts were never used until specific circumstances in which the government could take advantage of it in a loop hole situation.

Lets just take the G20 summit in toronto and the numerous highly ilegal things done that day by police and the fact that military from other countries were allowed to be there.. even privitised units... By all rights this should have never happened.. but they slipped it through using a law passed for world war 2..... one that has never been used or inacted.... someone dug it out of it's grave and saw that it wasn't completed void.

And those whom have the resources to find this stuff.. obviously will use it when it suites their needs.. not necessarily when it suites the peoples.

AND law passed in which even clearly states when it can be used...if there is so much as a thought or passing thought of it perhaps apply to other situation both for or against the people...... then the law is no good.. should never get inacted... grey areas are no good in laws.. because those with the resources like i said.. will be able to always barry someone without. Only rare cases are for the lesser.. but it's rare.

Be careful.... Reasonable and logical solution need to be sorted... but i honestly think the people of egypt or any country for that matter CAN work things out, it's unfortunate how much corruption encircles the globe... but i don't think giving up is an option any of us have anymore..... doesn't matter where we "run" to.... seems there is a finger in every region in some way or another.
