Add to the list with Nostradamus, the Rapture etc... depending on what you read it can be the universe shifting planes, people evolving to higher beings, the end of the world, something the Myans predicted etc.

As for this and other prophecies....BALLS. Fuck 2012, can they give me the lotto numbers? Then I will believe them.
The only way 2012 will be such an important year in the cosmos is by...nothing. There is nothing they can know which will 100% lead to anything that important next year. It reminds me of the whole "yeah, I will go over that mountain and when I come back the God will have given me instructions how to live. Honestly, it will be the one and only God!!! I wouldn't lie to you! "
Hopefully we will all have our health by 2013 and see, once more, what a bunch of opportunistic, attention seeking whores, most if not all of the "prophets" are.
2012 will be as shitty as 2011 and 2010 and most likely as 2013.


EDIT:And for those who are Christians, funnily enough it was Jesus Christ himself who said there will be no more prophets, but there will be false prophets claiming to be messengers from God or knowing the future. None of them will be the real thing. Only himself will come back at the second coming. Since it was him who said it, and if one believes in him, then I don't see how one such person can believe in the all the bullshit from such people, be it so called scientists or religious prophets since then.
For me...I do believe there is something going on with seeing part of the future some times, but that is another thing.

The fact is, I don't care for any proclaimed prophet. They are all BS and have motives far beyond the best of the humans. I don't care if you or anyone believes in JC or whoever. What I do care is if people accept BS as truth just because it suits them.

If I am alive then, see you in 2013. The world will be fine. It will not be destroyed in 2012 or otherwise altered. It will continue to be the same shit hole it is now. No god, no alien, no celestial alignment, no anything will alter anything next year. They are all bullshit. It's up to us, humans, to change things on our own, one way or the other, including destroying the world or expanding across the universe. Not a prophet, no god, no other creature will be able to change that.

People who worry or hope for an almost magical change next year, are just preparing themselves for further disappointment.

I haven't claimed to 'disprove' anything.

I'll clarify. There is no such thing as 'scientific proof'. There is only evidence that leads to a better understanding of reality. This evidence is evaluated by other scientists and either rejected or accepted. Leading to a consensus on the best explanation to date. To prove that this stuff was legitimate there would have to be an actual claim made and then we'd have to wait until after the event to see if it came to fruition.

Keep an open mind, but don't open it too far otherwise someone will come along and fill it with bullshit.

I will have to agree whole heartily with this. The only ones that are going to create change is us. There isn't going to be anything that happens that we didn't do ourselves and there isn't going to be any outside influence that is going to turn us all into x-men or something. I'm sorry, but anyone that really believes the world is going to change dramatically in 2012 because some calendars say so is fooling themselves.

When 2000 came around, I remember watching the news and seeing some guy that was hording gas because he was afraid the world was going to cave in on it's self and the whole thing blew up leaving a wife and three kids. His wife ended up having to take care of the kids on her own for something that didn't need to have happen. It's a waste of life and for nothing other then a belief that something is going to happen because it's hyped up that the world is going to end.

It's as bad as not going to the doctor because "God will heal it." Try selling that one when a loved one is 6 feet under because of stupidity. Sorry, I don't buy it.

anyone can interpret it or whatever they want however they want..... truth is what each of us decides to make of it.. be it blind or not... and if it's really the truth or not..... opinions and biased ideas will effect it..... and in the end.... no one has a real understanding what the truth actually is.

Until we can fully understand it... without making up mystical deities or hoping a high evolutionary/advanced culture from the stars or up from the earth will hold our hand and take us all into the next plain of excistance, is nothing but hoping and wishing and well... positive attitude with a few negatives of being self demeaning as a result to thinking we NEED this to proceed.

Granted there are times when i think a little bit of help.. even if it's indirect but obvious enough to remove a little doubt at least would prove to be quite necessary..... i really think people need to get over themselves, realize they/we are spoiled brats with a fascination for stupid and trivial idiotic and useless things, using various super flawed system to propetuate the rediculious and continue to live day by day like any single of us either matters or not. Some people are just getting bored with life in general.... we are stuck in our box and it's getting crowded, so no matter how much some people wish to see the world burn or wish to venture out past the known solar system and see whats really out there.. at this point in time... we are in so much chaos and disorder we can't even resolve or come to an understanding about ourselves much less fix some of the underlying major issues because we think everyone else is the problem and not us or keep avoiding the real cause and insist on trying to popetially patch up what isn't the cause and isn't broken necessarily.

There is a certain level of respect required.. but at what point do you witness and comprehend and understand other people total disreguard for their own self respect and respect of others when they can't even see let alone understand it when they insist they do. Bad even people can't fathom the mistakes we all make even when we are told we've done something stupid or wrong or at least would suggest thinking about it.

We have to come to grips with what we NEED vs what we want... Self satisfaction with disreguard for others is being promoted day in and day out..... we would rather stuff our faces full of food.. because we make the claim we "worked for it" or "i deserve it" or "it's my freedom to do so"..... at what point does such freedoms become another persons Jail... what is really legal and what is written in a countries legal papers as legal.

Is it right to gorge on food till you pop while others are forced into prisons of starvation or even resulting in death. Long run we claim it isn't our fault and with find any excuse to ignore it or to blame the person that starved. Using stereotypes or even racistist/nationalistic thoughts to further make oneself feel better about their poor/selfish decisions, convincing themselves that they had the right to what they have done and it is of no concern what they may have indirectly been involved in through the 6 degrees of seperation.

Until we can give up was we really don't need... understand what we do need... work together reguardless of the other man or women being blood.... relative, friend, foe or just a more selfish asshole then the rest.... work shit out.... feed the starving, as a start, create the infrastructure we all need to be self sustaining be it food/power/clothing/etc. Work as a real community... we are all fucked until then
