What should we do with Saddam
Now it is certain that the great criminal of the Arab world has be apprehended, what should become of this man? Once an allie, then a foe, a fugitive, and now a deposed leader, his future and fate are sealed perhaps.

I think he should move to America and start his own talk show.(sorry)
he did well didnt he making the whole world think he had loads of WMD im glad he's been caught, hiding in a hole in the ground , If I had the whole american and british army after me I wouldve done the same but I dont think he should be executed there's been enough killing allready. he looked a bit like bin laiden with his beard, maybe they have joined forces after all? lets hope this calms things down abit in Iraq. May all our allies who have died to make this possible rest in peace. |

I think he will be tried in Iraq by his own people and executed for his crimes. I wonder though that The Coalition may do a deal, information on WMD in return for his life!

Hmm I say he should be tried by his peers in Iraq . That way he can be aquitted of all charges via OJ's Dream Team and be reinstated as thier leader. Then France, Germany, China, N Korea and all other nations that opposed our effort can recognize his soverenity and demand our immediate withdrawal. As wonderful a scenario for WW3 as I can think of without my first cup of coffee.
Seriously though, he should be tried in the same manner as the Nazi war criminals were. I don't really care if the trial is held in Iraq or elsewhere.

I just heard that Saddam is not in IRAQ any longer, and being taken to a medical facility to face further examination and investigation, there are lots of unanswered questions now, and perhaps the web of deciet can be untangled

I say let the Iraqi people take care of him! tie him to a pole and let all of them whip and stone and or spit on him till he gets a taste of his own.

I say let him stand trail by the Iraqi's. He's the one who made them suffer, so I'm sure they have all sorts of..."creative" ways to deal with him

I voted- Face the court of his peers.
After getting all the info we need, let them kill him- (or whatever else they feel like doing) He's human garbage. That would be a great way for the Iraqis to start their own government, bringing their former murderous dictator to justice.

I believe that he should be given the worst possible punishment for him...
as he is an Arab, they treasure their honour. The worst thing for him would be to lock him up and throw away the key... that way he will suffer for the rest of his life in dishonour... If we were to execute him... we would most likely make a martyr out of him. |

Under Muslim law, not only he but his entire family could be punished or banished. his grandchildren even...very severe

I suggest they send him to northern Iraq and let the Kurds try him and then punish him as they see fit. And, I think the Kurds should invite anyone else that was brutally treated by Saddam to participate.

I generally think that execution is a bad thing.... but I think that torture may be warented for Saddam, I still think that he should not be killed though, he should be left to rot in a cell... Death is an easy way out and his supporters would martyr him

I say, let the international court prosecute Saddam on some charges, then extradite him to Iraq for further public trials. That way, this lets the different nations of the world have some power over the proceedings, and lets the Iraqi people have the final say in his fate.

I think he should be handed over to the citizens of Iraq. They can do what they want with him. I guess there is a chance of him escaping and or being freed by the leftover old regime. no actually. they would torture and kill him before that ever happened.
That would give them the closure they probably need and help them get on with there lives faster. hope they stone the dildo.

International court.
In the first place, this war started because Saddam was a threat to other nations, not for the kurds, nor for the arabs. Secondly, international condemnation of his regime is healthier for everybody, compare Germany after nazis and Nurenberg with any post communist country with local trial: nazism is outlawed in Germany, all ex-communist countries have active communist parties. Thirdly... justice is not about revenge. You can't have criminals murdered. Torture him in public? That would simply make the gov't that sets up such a show the very EQUAL of Saddam's. Was it simply about the muscle in the end... it's not that he was "wrong" and we were "right", it's simply he was weaker... ? Finally, off-topic, "what should WE do with Saddam"... well, nothing, WE don't have him. What do we think should be done etc. - maybe. It's a bit oversimplifying to identify with one's government to such extent, isn't it Jeff?

Lets put him in a sealed room. Hand him a bottle with liquid in it and then tell him to smash the bottle on the floor. After he breaks the bottle, tell him that he should have recognised the liquid in the bottle as being the stuff he used on his own people a few years back and then sit back and watch him die.
My other half reckons this would be too good for him though and a little part of me agrees. |
