Homosexual vs. Homosexual Lifestyle
First let me preface by saying this is NOT an attack on anyone. I am not accusing anyone of being homophobic.
Someone has stated there is a difference between being a homosexual and living a homosexual lifestyle. Again, I am not attacking this person, just inviting a little honest debate, from anyone really. It was stated that a homosexual is not abnormal but a homosexual lifestyle is abnormal. I don't quite understand the differentiation. Could someone help me understand what is meant by this? Please define first what a homosexual is then define what a homosexual lifestyle is and how one is abnormal and the other is not. How are these separate or are they? |

I don't get the title of the thread. Come to think of it I don't get the subject either.
Shouldn't that be homosexual v's heterosexual lifestyle? Anyway these threads have been done to death here a zillion times in the past. The so called liberals will say its OK, leave them be. The Conservatives will say it's immoral and they should be burned at the stake. (Or words to that effect). It will be the same old arguments with the same old people. What else is new? GJ |

Is it just me or do the other folks here think Joystick should be removed? It may not be a crime to be anti-semitic (at least maybe in the US it isn't) but it is against forum rules. And it is getting to be a pain in the butt having this guy jumping up all over the place spouting his very narrow one dimensional views. I don't think it's helping anything.
Lol, since this is supposed to be about politics, why don't we vote? GJ |

K, deleted the "offensive" (but true) material.
I'd have to ask, though, that you atleast TELL me what is "anti-semitic". I haven't used ANY racial slurrs, or anything like that, and don't exactly see where you get the idea that I'm one sided, and narrow minded... PLEASE, Raid, PLEASE, tell me. |

Christ, I wish just once there could be one thread where someone doesn't, in the first five posts, say something completely inane or immediately throw out the left-right crap. It's really quite remarkable. Does anyone here wish to have a discussion, or is all you want to do is crap all over everything? Please Raid, just this once try to stay on topic. |

Perhaps I missed something... You asked for opinions on homosexuals, vs homosexual lifestyles... I gave my opinion (albeit a bit sickening), and I was "crapped" on by Jeff... Then Raid... I mean, are you talking about me, or am I just being paranoid?

Lol well I'm sorry if you took offense - I guess you could say my stance was kind of neutral - but it was already shaping up that way. I'm just laying out the way it's likely to be.
As for the subject, I agree it's a bit of an odd statement. I'm not sure it makes much sense. Who said it anyway? Like I said most people would tend to choose one or the other as being true, not both at the same time. GJ |

Well I placed Joystick on my ignore list, whoopee. Now I don't have to read any more of his silly mumblings...
I tried to do the same with ZD too - since I figured as I said that the forum would benefit from preventing all these stoopid bickering arguments from breaking out in future - but unfortunately because of the omnipotent powers that be, so far I haven't been able to. It would be nice though, I wouldn't have to read any of his stuff and he could finally have the space on the forum to express his views to whoever would listen. (Which is probably not many). Almost the perfect solution. But oh well, maybe we can work something else out. I want to talk about politics. I haven't got time for all these silly personal squabbles. GJ |

Well, I give up. Impossible to have a discussion without the majority of the posts being entirely off-topic. It's no longer a Political Debate forum, it's a Personal Whinging forum.
That's it for me. |

I don't think its quite fair to say I was wingeing dude. I simply made the point that the only way to avoid this BS now seems to be to ignore it.
I appreciate you may have wanted to debate the topic title - but as I said it doesn't make much sense. I really don't know quite what to say about it. I agree things have gone downhill recently, but hopefully it will pick up again when all this silliness stops. There have been a couple of posts on the forums recently that clearly didn't belong here as they were merely personal essays on how various members feeling had been hurt, but I'm sure it will all calm down again. Anyway I'm sorry we don't live up to your high debating standards here. This isn't quite Oxford debating Union - but more often than not (although again perhaps not recently) we do have some very interesting discussions. It's just that this topic seems very hard to debate. Unless it means it's OK to be gay - but not have any kind of gay sex, or something... It depends what you define as a gay life style, or if being Gay can even be described as just a lifestyle. Like I said I'm not all that sure what else it could mean. GJ |

I think there is no difference a gay person leads a gay lifestyle. What else could their lifestyle be called?

I dunno.... It was something that had been talked about here before - in so much that the question was asked is gayness just a 'life style choice' or is it something more, something for example people were born with.
As I said, it was done to death then to. Maybe you guys can see some merit in going over the same old stuff all over again. I can't really be bothered. I'm getting kinda bored (and by the looks of it most people are) with the fact that every thread ends up as a battle between ZD and me - that usually has nothing to do with the topic in question. I don't know what the purpose of this thread was. I mean why take a few lines of what was some kind of tirade by one forum member against another if the purpose wasn't to stir up trouble again? It's really kind of childish. It would help perhaps if the subject in question actually made any sense, which appears not to be the case in this instance. Anyway, I have nothing new to say on this topic. You guys know my views and I know yours. The best thing we can do to save a lot of time and pointless stress is agree to disagree. I doubt raking over it all again is going to get us anywhere. GJ |
