Confused voter

I finally turned 19 this last august and registered to vote but the problem is who to vote for? we have one candidate who thinks but always overanalyzes everything and changes his stance or do i vote for someone who doesnt think before he decides to do something and passes off at times to be unintelligent. this year the candidates do not look to good.

boy are you asking this at the wrong place
just do me a favor and don't vote for either one until learn about them and really agree with someone's policies.
if neither fulfill that, try to learn about Nader and the other parties.
and if you don't agree with any of them, and have studied them all, you can sit this one out.
chances are your state will choose Bush with or without you.

ROFL Shinji..that was great. Would have been funny if it was for the other side too

Counterfe1t: The best advice I can give is to do as much research ON YOUR OWN as you can. Checkout places like moveon.org, the Dem's website, the Rep's web site, rushlimbaugh.com, etc etc. Look at BOTH sides, and read what they say, and see which side seems to mesh with what you think. If you are open minded, you will most likely see pros and cons on each side.

The most important thing is to make your own decision, and don't let someone else make it for you. It's good to see some one your age looking at this in a responsible manner and taking the time to ask.

Actually since you are in Texas, it doesn't really matter how you vote- your state is a republican state, and that is the way the electoral college voters will vote..

BUT
-you should still vote for whoever you think will do the country the most good.

Do you want a big government with more taxes? Vote Kerry

Do you want smaller government with less taxes? Vote Bush

Even though Bush is actually spending more because of the war - republicans generally vote for less taxes and less government control.

I live in NY and will most likely vote Republican- but in reality it won't mean crap because my state is a Dem state.. If you live in a swing state you actually will make more of a difference- but anything can happen, so you cannot base your voting on that alone.

There are many many issues, and most of the time people will favor views of both party's candidates. You have to decide which issues are most important to you, and vote the for the party/person who you agree with on those issues..

At least if you vote, you will be a part of the process, and not someone who is just standing on the sidelines letting things happen.

The LP (Libertarian Party) had a very fun national convention, I must say.

Because Kucinich isn't a libertarian, quite simply. Kucinich would have expanded the government significantly with his "Department of Peace" and so on; libertarians in general want to reduce the government to the bare minimum needed for a debatably crucial core of basics.

Not too much offense intended, but I call an undecided voter a "moron" right about now.

Seriously, there has never been a sharper contrast between the two choices.

Do you want the guy who lied to lead us into a war that need not have happened or the guy who actually fought in a war and knows it's horrors?

While i do agree with you to some extent right now it feels as if, "whoever wins we lose" While I now know who will i vote for now after all the research and after the debate which.....in some ways can be compared to the debate of kennedy vs. nixon where one was clearly speaking and the other was stuttering and mumbling.

That's just dumb. Kerry voted the same way as Bush with the given information, so is he a liar too? and how about the rest of congress?

Bush is actually to liberal for me, But Im not going to vote for a person whos commited treason & commited atrocities in Vietnam and changes his mind depending on where hes at or who hes talking to. Kerry is as close to communism as its gets, Why Kerry isnt in prison is beyond me.

Whoa. Communists should be imprisoned? Whatever happened to the land of the free?

And I don't see Kerry doing ANYTHING even remotely solid in the areas of expanding social security or welfare, so he isn't even really tending towards liberal socialism, much less a planned economy like communism. And didn't he win a silver star and a bronze star for killing communists?

Counterfe1t:

Do a lot of research up until election day. As The Neon Cowboy said CNN and FOX are some nice ones to tune in to, but even news reporting can be biased in so far as what they chose to focus on. Read and listen to each party's candidates, evaluate the information you gather, and decide.

Discussing politics and religion gets so heated anywhere you talk about it. As for me, The President has 3 impressive supporters on his team, the VP, Colin Powell, and his National Security Advisor. If it wasnt for them supporting him, I wouldnt even try to put forth extra consideration to vote for Bush/Cheney., not after he mislead the world with false information concerning the degree of threat Saddam was to us. Then, he let Osama get away! That pissed me off!

I would love for Chenney and Powell to be in Kerry's administration, if he gets elected. That would be a very capable administration. Of course this is my opinion. There are pros and cons for both parties this election, but for me and my interests, Kerry/Edwards appears to be the better choice. I dont know who Kerry would have in his cabinet, but I know as far as the war on terror is concerned, the VP and Collin Powell are 2 of the most capable persons to combat the threat or likely threat.
