i've read that parody an aside from the sarcastic tone, its fairly accurate.

That said, I could paint a similarly sinister picture of the US...

Battles since WWII:

1. Korean War - Tie.
2. Vietnam War - Loss.
3. Persian Gulf - Tie.
4. Iraq - Win* (under dispute)
5. Afghanistan - Win* (see Iraq)
6. War on Drugs - Loss

And don't go claiming the Soviet Union collapse is a 'win' either; Russia still exists and is a counter to the US, although they've moderated themselves into tenative allies. The collapse of the Soviet Union was as much an economic failure from within than anything Reagan claimed to have done.

So in total, one 'win' which will probably turn into a tie, maybe a long-term loss?

I don't count police actions in the Caribean/Central America as wars since 3rd rate 3rd world powers with populations in the thousands are NOT significant threats. So you could count easy 'wins'. Or actually as 'losses' as the War on Drugs continues.

Have you ever noticed that peeps from canada never have anything nice to say about the USA? I feel that they should be a little happy that they live so close to "big brother". I mean no one screws with Canada because first, they haven't anything any one wants, and second, they would have to deal with us! So lighten up Canada...please

I think you missed the point of my post... i was being facetious. Clearly the US military is the best in the world, and the US is the pre-eminent world power. Fortunately the US is very benevolent too so on the whole, the world benefits greatly.

My point was I can show that the US' military record is weak if I dwell on certain aspects, but that's clearly not the case. Hence when people call the French "cheese eating surrender monkeys" I am similarly perturbed.

If it makes you feel any better, our military stinks. Not the people (lots of hard working, skilled, dedicated people) but the funding. I think there's an economy-of-scale thing you need to run a truly world-class military, and Canada is a small country. We have a hard enough time patrolling our borders.

The new plans for the Canadian military though make alot of sense. Overhaul our F-18s, replace all our Leopard IIs with the new Stryker (LAV IIIs), use militarised domestic vehicles to replace our Iltis jeeps. We should replace our C-130s though with something bigger to move the LAVS though.

Yeah, we're just some of the world's foremost producers of tin, copper, nickel, oil and gas, gold, and lumber among other things, as well as being the only G8 country making a profit.

Thanks for the pricey missiles and so forth that allows us to spend money on useful stuff though.

Here are some figures I found on military spending
Slightly outdated but still good.
Nice to see my country sandwiched between Ukraine and Sudan if you really want somebodys military to laugh at laugh at ours.

Also that google search results are BS. Visit google and try it.

As an imperalist power, the French have commited no greater moral sins than any other power I suppose, they fought gallantly during the first and second world war, and in Vietnam, but they learned their lessons well before we did, ironically we followed them many places and relearned those lessons. If you can seperate the politics from the military, you will see that they also learned lessons about military spending at least two wars before we did....
My own brother finds their efforts laughable but they then mired and shackled by the French political machine they too suffered as much if not more than we did.

I know it was a joke, i have heard it several times. Some people take it seriously which is why I posted that it was BS.
