Ever done something that you regretted in later life?

Donald Rumsfeld has http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/com...55E401,00.html

Its fact of life... Everyone does it unfortunatly, but, the U.S does play a big factor of distributing arms and money to the 3rd world countires for their own needs. Its only a matter of time that it comes back and bites them in the ass.

Sad, but, no one can do anything about it...

Of course that happened, but I don't see why this is bad, really. The US's stance on foreign policy has always been "choose the lesser of the two evils." And, frankly, at the time, the bigger threat WAS crazy, fundementalist Islamic regimes. Iraq is a secular regime, and while Saddam did bad things, he considered less of a threat and an enemy than Iran. Remember, Iran, held Americans hostage. That tends not to endear you to us.

Like I said Java, I wasn't surprised by this article but the trouble with these sorts of weapons is that they are very indiscriminate. There is nothing SMART about a chemical or biological attack and many innocent civilians have died as a result. Indeed, Saddam has used these weapons on his own people so I don't think he would hesitate to use them in a war with the US and Britain.

Kinetic, he sold them. Stocks like that put him at risk for conflict-of-interest. Wouldn't it be suspicious, say, if Nvidia was awarded a Department of Defense contract? That's why. Not saying Rumsfeld WOULD do something like that, but he had to ditch the stocks just so couldn't even be accused of impropriety.

Sorry Java, I should have realised! It's been a long day!
This sort of thing rears its head in the U.K from time to time and several government officials have been made to squirm due to their interests in large companies.

Hmm, to avoid a Clinton situation. Same deal "Conflict of Interest"
Very Smart of him to do so.

I have to say I wasn't surprised either about the statement, just concerned. Chemical and Biological Weapons as far as I'm concerned, should be used on the Crackheads who wanted or invented them. Serve no purpose, just harm innocent people.

Being Canadian, we are too involved in recent World events
Too some extent, mostly trying to help out our American friends.
Keep in mind DH members from the U.S., just because I'm Canadian, doesn't mean I didn't loose a good friend on 911, A buddy I went to college with, who worked in the Trade Centers.
And I also live right across Lake Ontario from New York City, On Sept 13th,2001, I could see and taste ash and concrete dust in the air from my 4th floor apartment facing L.O. Small World.

Iran, Iraq, and the situation with North Korea, are issues I am greatly concerned with at the moment.
I for one support the fact that something needs to be done, these Terrorist groups have no value for human life, even their own.

I hope George Bush Jr, handles this as well as his father, he was a military man, as my father was.

Of course the Senior Bush, was shit on, After what I consider a great handling of the Gulf War, well I guess we all need a Scapegoat don't we

Sorry to ramble, Just my Two cents
