Well of course there is a very good reason that the republicans just relaxed the ethics rules concerning catered lunches and golfing junkets, they find that they're very important in effective legislation.

America may not be the Land of Teh Free (tm) that it's cracked up to be, but it's sure Land Of The Free Lunch If You're A Politician

Well, I must say! I am impressed! DW, you have succeeded in producing what must be the dumbest political critque ever.
See, DW, what you are doing is precisely why Democrats lost in the Mid-Term Election. It is why President Bush has a monumentally high approval rating. Democrats don't have a message. They're a pointless party. While Republicans are saying things like "Let's cut taxes. Let's fight terrorism. Let's improve airport security. Let's fix this Korea problem," Democrats seem have their thumbs lodged up their asses! What major policy has the Democratic Party announced recently? None. So instead of being a party with a real purpose and a real plan, they are nothing but the party of Anti-Bush. And you embody that. Instead of saying things like "Look, this country NEEDS more government spending to boost the economy! Here's how were going to do it..." or "Here is how we're going to fight terror," liberals aren't saying much besides Republicans are wrong. Well, boo-hoo. Read the article, DW. Who cares if a company wants to buy a Congressman's staff lunch? The fact is, Congresspeople are all already rich! Buying a Republican a pizza isn't going to make him vote a certain way! All these laxer regulations allow is for staffmembers (like interns) to eat the lunches that lobbyists buy for them. Big deal! You're the liberal one that "cares about people"! What's wrong with buying someone that doesn't make that much money a meal? It's not for the Congresspeople, and if you read the article, you'd know that. But thanks for trying.

Nope, I ain't buying it.
Your self-righteous ramblings will avail yea not, for I ain't a Democrat nor do I particularly care for their message or lack of said above. I'm an independant who is just sick to death of how this government is doing whatever the hell it feels like. It's a form of payola/bribery no matter how much you bill it as the "poor, starving congressional aids" getting a couple of pizzas.

Yeah, yeah, yeah -- "I ain't a Democrat, I just believe in every fundementally liberal idea." As far as I am concerned -- liberal and Democrat are one and the same. The both argue in the same nonsensical way. They act alike. They take perverted and fallacious stands on every major issue of the day. And, oh... recently they've been lacking a point. I just hope you and your ilk will find better ways to get your message out.

)I'm a radical independant with an attitude. As for how we plan to get the message out, well...we thought it might be better to go undercover and split up and bring a bit of enlightening to the brighter folks of the world. I got assigned the video card communities.

) He is trying to say that he feels this is corrupt and from the phrasing of the subject, you should have been able to tell that it wasn't supposed to be one of those long rational debates about something - it was a rant (somewhat true from my point of view, but that is something different.). You keep rising to the bait everytime Dig posts, man! He will drop a one-liner, and you will spend minutes crafting a response to something he didn't really put his entire mind and writing skill behind - you really need to see when the reponse called for is another quick reponse versus a diatribe and a debate, if you ask me. Not everyone wants a big debate all of the time...ToshiroOC ...except for me

Remember when they almost elected Le Pen in France, the racist supremacist? It was attributed to people being extremely dissatisfied with the general options out there - gutless politicans and corrupt politicans. While it may be France - the country that lost TWICE in WWII - it still shows the general disillusionment that a lot of people have with the current political system...

Heh, pretty much you just said a lotta things that I agreed with . . .
Like I took this thread as mainly dig' posting it for giggles or venting, and it seems JavaFox took it much more seriously than I did ![]() I ususally like to be light-hearted about talking about the parties and their members anyway, cuz if you just argue no one usually wins, cuz there's usually good points on both sides. Hey, if everyone thought a party or a politician was bad, would they be there? So I just take the "agree to disagree" option from the start, and prefer just getting a laugh out of the quirks of our colorful system. And then the whole thing with the labels and categories. I agree with the stuff you said here, and in dallasstar's "How am I classified" thread. People blending and stereotyping different types of opinions will end up misleading others who are trying to learn about everything. And the whole issue of labeling at all is kinda boring to me. Just because some labels are too broad, so they're pretty useless, and others are too specific, so that almost nobody fits into that category, also making it pretty useless. Finding the right label jsut gets too difficult, not worth it. Sorta like with music categories . . . with so many styles evolving, being added on to, and being combined, it's hard to label specific types of music, leaving terms that are usually too broad, like "rap" and "rock." Yeah thats about it ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If you don't mind, I'm going to go put a removable "I Vote Democratic, and Shoot Those Who Don't" home-made bumper sticker on the car of one of my friends, who has engaged in public promotion of the Republican party
(The classifications may be a little broad, but it does let you know who your political enemies are to an extent...)
