Got the fx back in dec cheap from newegg, got one for my bro for christmas, it was a nice upgrade from his Winchester A64 3500. 2.8 np at stock voltage (1.4v) on mine and his, CPU Z nevr seems to report the right voltage for me and the is actually 1.49v. Just pondering playing with the multipliers more now, hmmmmmm, wander what the safe max volts are for the se FX on air?, pretty chill here,im idling at 33c?

I think I saw the FX 60 for $379 at TigerDirect or something.

I don't know if you can even find a 939 board with AGP any more. Wacky AM2 stuff.

Yeppers - Dual Core, each core with 128k L1 cache and a full 1 meg of L2 cache. 2.6ghz each core.

Fastest Socket 939 chip out there. Came out at $1031, I think I got it for under $800. Now they are under $400, if you can find them. Still, for me it was totally worth it. I've had all these months to play around with it and it really does make a big diff.

I figure as long as it makes you happy, and you can afford it, you should just let yourself enjoy it and not worry about cost.

Rock on!

The 3500 is a great chip - very solid. That's the chip I upgraded from. It served me well.

Luckily I had another machine to drop it in - from a Sempron to the 3500+. Still chuggin' along, it is.

Enjoy the upgrade.

It's just one of those things - for 4 years AMD kicked the P4 architecture. Intel had plenty of time to work it out.

Right now, the C2D 6600 and above are just the cats meow. I'm an AMD fanboy and even I would go C2D 6600 or higher if I were to go with another rig. The facts and data just flat out show them to be superior right now.
