Anyway, FF3 here as well. I tried the new Opera and it had several nice features FF didn't, but it was annoying. Sometimes, it wouldn't load the entire page (usually when uTorrent was working, but it didn't happen with other browsers), or it would take forever to load some page completely. The latter mostly occurs with pages like Facebook profiles and is normal, but while it's possible to use the pages even when not 100% finished in other browsers, things often didn't work in Opera until it had downloaded all 800+ images that the page contained. It also has an aggressive caching mechanism which causes it to display outdated images (I'm working on a webapp that displays charts to help analyze network traffic, and this can be a real pain). So after 3-4 days, I'm back with FF.
Try opening a video from the FP of the MSNBC website. In FF2 if you had that setting set, it would open in a new tab. In FF3, no matter what, opens a new window.

Another example, if you have a blogger acct, is to try to embed a pic in a blogger post. Used to open tab, now opens window, despite the setting.

I just tried that with FF3 and FF 2.0.0.14, both set to open pages in new tabs, and they both opened the videos in new windows. (I think they were designed to do it that way, to know a difference between a regular page and a pop-up.) Only Opera (9.5, but I think older ones would do the same) opened it in a new tab.

Fire Fox all the way. It basically was the one that worked for me the best. Used Internet Exploiter for a little while and then went to FF until it had som kind of bug so i tried Opera for a little while and cried. So when firefox fixed itself I went back

For me, they open in new tabs in 2.0.0.14. I'm wondering if it's a side effect of TabMixPlus which isn't working on 3.0. I'll have to try it on a diff. PC w/ 2.0 installed, disabling TMP.

Yeah, that must be it. TMP has a "open links that open a new window in a new tab" setting. That must not be working.

Firefox (3.0)

There is no competition. The stability, speed, security and add-ons (+ greasemonkey) dominate.

Nope. Have to set:

Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction

in about:config to 0. That fixed it, but didn't have to be done in FF2.

The only reason many web pages work correctly with IE is that the developers spend (waste) a not that small portion of their time trying to make things that work in all other browsers work in IE.

P.S. Implementation of tabbed browsing in IE7 really is good, I haven't used it much for awhile, but I remember that there are some nice touches like remembering the typing language for each tab separately so I dont have to Alt+Shift every time I switch tabs..
I had read that (and heard directly about it at work) about IE over the years, and Zardon mentioned it in a thread here when DH recently changed their layout, but work required it (IE6) until just last year for several things. And at home, on that issue, I'm a bit lazy - admittedly. Now, as of this week, work requires IE7 for a critical web-based app. Glad your hard work isn't going to waste though!

I had to vote FF3, but my 2nd choice is SeaMonkey 2, which is currently in alpha right now and looking good. When/if it ever goes beta and final it may become my 1st choice.

Has none of you tried IE8?

Has none of you tried IE8? I find it much better than IE7 and in par with FF3 - I use both though because I prefer FF3 but it does not work on all site's.
I just felt that it is strange that nobody seams to have looked at IE8.

IE8 is in too early a state for me to bother with it. I mean, let's see some real betas; I'm not going to touch something that early in its development.

Thanks Iria

At least I can understand that but really it is a vast improvement on IE7 and though I prefer FF3 I think IE8 is on par with FF3 - I only wondered why no IE8 was included since to me it does seam to be very good.

Could be because there is also only so much room for these. They could have added SeaMonkey, the Mozilla Suite, Konqueror, Flock, Netscape, maybe even Mosaic? As you see, you don't want to get to carried away with these kind of things.

Although, I think it would have been amusing to add Mosaic just to see if anyone is still using it.

Firefox 3, I have been using firefox for a long time now, and FF3 adds the amazingly awesome auto-find function to the address bar, I can't see a return to IE for me.

Firefox all the way! Some of the other browsers are not bad but if anyone is using IE they are just asking for trouble. Most of the clients I deal with are still using IE and they wonder why they get virus, spyware, etc.. I always make sure to install Firefox and explain to them why its so much better than anything else out their.
