PhysX did not impress me when you had to buy a $200 PPU card to get it but now that it's essentially free with your already purchased video card I do see the potential; a month ago I couldn't care less about PhysX but now I want it in all my games.

Physics processing impresses me, however my problem is now we're going to have 2 different standards, Havok, and PhysX, personally I think the whole physX thing is overrated it only allows more processing simply because they take the load off the CPU. It's the same physics, just more of it.

Just out of curiosity after installing the Nvidia /Physx 177.83 driver when it was released..I have noticed a few differences in most of the modern games such as bioshock/crysis & COD 4..Which for me makes this the best driver i have used so far.Im just not to sure if these are just small alterations on the initial driver.

My main question does the Physx drivers effect all modern games or do they need to be coded to support it.

After reading DH's article (good read) i don't have Graw 2 or UT so at the moment i cant vote until im told the answer..

PhysX only works in games that support it. The best implemention of this is GRAW2 which everyone needs to get a hold of, just to see AGEIA island (the whole game is supported mind you). The physX in that particular level makes even Crysis look extremely dated. Obviously I have only tested it with 3 overclocked 280 GTX cards so its hard for me to tell how its going to run for someone with a normal system so you guys can tell me.

There are some killer titles coming up with PhysX support by the way such as Farcry2 which is the one im waiting on. Mirrors Edge is another.

I got the driver pack from nVidia (the same as MIG has) it had some game demos that supports PhysX, Warmonger and it looked great @ 1280x1024 with 8800GT

I have spent quite a bit of time on Warmonger that came with the driver realese.Yes i am impressed with Physx Graphics..

May need to look out for a cheap copy of Graw 2 from ebay soon..

Can any one list a few thats supports PhysX graphics.

looks like we'll have a "openGL/D3D" api style system happening with the video cards ..

instead of video api, it'll be ppu api's.... and worse yet.... each company will have it's own.. it's like 3dfx glide style.....

hmm are there any games where I can see the difference by turning physx on or off? I don't remember if GRAW did it. Gears of War doesn't have an option

You can disable PhysX in the Windows Control Panel section "Nvidia PhysX".

On all of my games with Physx it not only looks better but runs better.

Mostly on Mass Effect and R6 2. Everything is smooth as silk and those little extra details make the game worth playing over again and again.

What I love the most is the explosions (flames, debri) and smoke effects. Definately the water too.

I always wanted to pick up GRAW 2 and now since my GRAW 1 got scratched looks like I'll be heading out to pick it up.
Also, Does that AGEIA island come with the game or is it a seperate download?

just patch to v1.05, its in the game. select campaign, then ageia island on the left. the whole game works with physX btw, that island has just been specially made to showcase physX (and boy does it!)

Never did get to finish that game oh well.

GRAW2 is the reason I voted for "best thing since sliced polygons". it is just simply awesome. I also loved the UT3 levels, with the tornado.

I think this is the best thing in a long time in the world of graphics. sure its not "new" but nvidia buying them and giving it "free" with their hardware is a massive thing. It should change the world of gaming, after all do we really need 100fps? lets have 50fps and crank up the eye candy!.

He has a similar graphics card to both of us and runs it fine.
