Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

My vote goes to: I’m happy with what I’ve got for the moment

My Nvidia GT260 896mb gives me what i need.. So no updates for a long time to come.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

I've voted I’m waiting for NVIDIA GeForce ‘Fermi’ cards.

I'm quite curious as what the prices will do with all the DX11 cards when Nvidia releases those cards. By that time I will have a 24" monitor so an upgrade will be needed.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

Either two 5870's or a 5970. Really depends what will be the first to be in stock. 5-series shortages are killing me.

5980? is that a typo or do you really intend to wait for that card to appear?

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

I'm going to wait for more DX11 titles to come out and by that time I'm sure the 5700's will drop in price or a 5830 will be released. For now my 9800GTX+ does just fine.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

Happy with what I have at the moment. In fact, since I've started mostly playing Eve Online lately, I'm thinking of breaking up my CrossfireX set of 5870's and putting one of them in my secondary rig. One 5870 should still be able to maintain 8xSSAA for a game as old as Eve Online. But that is one thing, I don't want to give up that AA level or my resolution of 1920x1080. So I'm still not sure if I'll do that or not.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

It should be fine, I was playing Left4Dead 2 earlier on my viera plasma at 1080p with 8aa. smooth as butter - single 5870. granted the source engine isnt the most taxing but the 5870 is extremely capable.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

I voted for the first one. I am happy with my 4870X2. I would't mind something more, but by the time I will be able to afford a new graphics card, another 4870X2 or 5 series, it will be a good time for a whole new system, so I wait or hope for a miracle.
I have yet to find a game that will not run at acceptable frame rate at if not 1920x1200, 1680x1050.

If I have a job by next Summer, I will probably get something, if not, this machine can keep me happy for at least another 12 months.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

It would be a bit of a waste of money for you tbh Bluemak and unless a wealth of DX11 games hit in the new year, I see no rush. By the summer there should be a decent array of DX11 games (if even by then, there are still so many people on DX9 only cards its not often very sensible for companies to invest huge amounts of money to these great new technologies - yes I hate the mainstream users holding us all up )

Whats holding me back is my finances if it wasn't for that I'd go straight for the 5890

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

I plan for a whole new system so definitely i will go for a dx11 gpu, but i will wait for more cards to come up and some price cut to the current ones. I'm targeting to mid-range cards (ideal now seems the 5770), unless my finances get better and buy a stronger gpu (something like 5850).
Waiting for Nvidia's answer to dx11, and maybe after many years switch to the "green company".

So i voted for: "I’m waiting for more DX11 games to come out"

As somone else pointed out to me earlier today, I think you mean "5970" - its an easy slip to be honest, they really should have called it 5890 but only AMD understand their naming conventions ...

No, they should have called it the 5870 X2. Wasn't any need to change their current naming convention just because some marketing weasel thought it was a good idea.

As for my vote...Since I just got a pair of 4870's, I voted "I'm happy with what I have".

Crossfired 4870's are probably as much GPU as my PH II 940 can push anyway.

I probably won't do a major upgrade for another year or more. Then I'll most likely just upgrade the CPU. RAM, and MB, then wait for awhile to upgrade the GPU. Shucks, by that time maybe the 6xxx, or 7xxx GPUs will be out

I'm "ok" with what I have, but if the opportunity presented itself I would probably pick up a GTX285 on the cheap. Otherwise I'm holding off until the new year to see how the new Nvidia cards do.

Got my Radeon HD3850 about 2 years ago now and haven't been able to afford another one since the UK's economy is... blah. Still happy with it though it packs a good punch for everything i play If i was to get a new card it would either be a top range HD4xxx series or a 5850

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

I'm not 100% decided on this yet, so, for now, I'm sticking with what I've got and, in a couple of months, when I start considering my upgrade options seriously, anything other than the 5970 will be a possibility.

So far, the Radeon 5 series (5770 or, possibly, 5850) leads the way, but I'm certainly not discarding Nvidia solutions a priori, only they need to come out in order to be a serious option.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

There's now a PowerColor 5750 with my name on it. The price dropped under $200, and I ordered, and will pick it up tomorrow.

Re: What are you thinking for your next Graphics Card?

I'm happy with what I have now, a (nowadays relativley lowly) 9800GTX+, won on DH a year or so back

Sure, it's not the latest tech or the fastest card, but it pushes all the games I play at my native resolution of 1440x900, and I can't justify a monitor upgrade, let alone a better CPU and PSU to push a better video card. I'm too satisfied with my current system

When I do finally upgrade, it'll be in some time, it'll come with a major system overhaul, and it'll porably be a GTX3 or GTX4 card.

I ordered the card yesterday online, but when I got to the store today it turned out that the order didn't go through. Fortunately they still had two cards in stock. I bought one (though thinking about it now, two is a rather tempting number). Also bought a 500GB Seagate drive to replace my 250+80.

Good news, post your findings, and a few pics.

I chose "I’m waiting for NVIDIA GeForce ‘Fermi’ cards" because I want to see what they can pull off and if its a fizz, maybe the prices and availability of the 58xx will be better.I had an order at umart for an XFX5870, but that was 3 weeks ago and I have since recieved confirmation that the next stocks will be in up to a month or two.
