although i have a dvd player...this is hardly used .
Reason.. I have 5.1 speakers on a audigy 2 sound card....so all dvds are played on my pc for this reason, coupled with high rez screen playback. Last edited by MIG-31; Aug 4, 2005 at 10:16 PM. |

With me it depends, ive a pioneer DVD player connected to a 23inch phillips LCD tv which is nice so I use it for some stuff, then ive a modded xbox to another screen which is connected over the network, so I can transfer files from my laptop upstairs to it to watch in another room. Then ive the laptop with an audigy2ZS and creative gigaworks, connected to a Dell 2405 via a 6800 go, which is used for music dvds.......

i watch all dvd's on my comp.
21" viewable monitor with logitech Z-680's set up in 5.1 and are DTS certified. as for the software, i got a free copy of PowerDVD that came along with my dvd rom. i had to "find" a cd-key though to update it because of some of the newer dvd's sercurity features. it wouldnt work on the original version of P-DVD

I also use my computer to watch DVD's due to my speaker system. If I didn't have the surround sound, I would just watch it on the TV.
mike2h, I would love to have some Signature Series speakers right about now.

I watch most dvd's on my pc which comprises of a klipsch 4.1 set and a 21" flat screen crt monitor. My 9800 pro came with Powerdvd 5, but it didn't have all features unlocked. So I "found" the retail version. Do need to "find" the newest version though
I also watch some dvd's on my ps2 which is connected to a 27" flatscreen tv and a Klipsch 2.1 set

software, what software? All you need is Windows Media Player.
BTW those options were not very choosable. I watch dvds and 'clips' on my computer. But only when im too lazy to burn them to dvd, cause you dont want to waste a blank dvd for a crap movie. So basically just watch them on the comp for testing. http://www.whenpeoplefly.com

I'll watch some stuff on my computer when I'm working some thing. However, for hard core movie viewing I leave that to my 65" wide screen & yamaha/onkyo/Infinity setup. BTW Dark, I love that player but last time I tried it, it kept locking up on me.

I use PowerDVD and KazaLite Codec Pack. Run a lead from the computer to the TV if it is not in a supported format that the home DVD player can detect.
I’ve watched one or two movies on the computer monitor Windows Media Player doesn't excite me very much. |

I only watch DVDs on my computer. My T.V. is slightly smaller than my computer monitor anyway, and I only use it for hockey (it's been broken the past year, and I haven't fixed it, since there wasn't any NHL season)
I got WinDVD and PowerDVD with various optical drives I've purchased, but I purchased PowerDVD for the latest version and all the features I wanted, which seemed like the best deal at the time, and I haven't really regretted it. I'm slowly upgrading my home theatre speakers which are all connected to my computer, they make for fun while playing games. (Currently a mix of Klipsch, Boston Acoustics and Pioneer)

I used to, not anymore. In my old house, the wife and I would watch them in our bedroom before we went to sleep. We don't do that anymore.

Never on my PC.
Once or twice on the move on my handheld, but I don't think I have ever watched a full dvd on my actual computer. That's what the 28" widescreen flat screen tv with 400W 5.1 system's for. My monitor is a crappy 17" Compaq crt at the mo anyway.

Yea there should be another option other than "found". I use Media Player Classic to watch DVDs.
