Do you have a higher quality version of the song?
The original version sounds much cleaner (this one sounds overly compressed to me, and I am thinking that maybe it is just because it is .mp3?). I just want to be sure that I am hearing it as you intended it to be, before giving any specific feedback. BTW: The song drums up visions of Van Halen and ZZ Top (for me anyway)... Naa - I think I prolly compressed it too much .... I shouldn't post stuff I 'complete' with tired ears.... I'll post another soon.

Well do not change anything unless you agree (of course).
To start with, I thought the original version was great (I am sure I have told you this before), so... I haven't noticed the drum changes as of yet (other than the mix), as I do not think that is something people notice right away (unless they are a drummer, or are pretty familiar with the song), so I cannot comment much about that. The only thing that struck me (with that) is that they seem a little quiet in the mix. I prefer the level that they were at in the original. The guitar seems overdone (over processed) a little (IMO). I think maybe something in between the original version and this version might sound good (if you you are not happy with the original). I do think the extra processing on the laughing and some of the other sounds, does sound good (doesn't really sound like laughing anymore, it just sounds like some cool effects now). In any case, that is just my thoughts. -Russ |

The guitars are (actually everything is - other than level) verbatum... so this over processing you are hearing is all from from using a multi band compressor (and yes I agree its too compressed)
Another thing is the drum samples arent very 'crisp' to begin with - the toms have a long decaying ring to them that kinda bugs me. Its what I was strugling with getting the drums to sound punchy, but not over bearing... at the time the multiband comp seemed to help... but eh... Oh - The cymbals are a bit too loud compared to the rest of the kit I think too... I just remixed this to see if the drums were gonna work for a song like this - so far I am struggling... Oh - and as far as drums added - I added fills only in some areas that seemed to be getting repetitive toward the end of the song. (some cymbals, 1/2 - 3/4 measure tom fill etcc - nothing major) Thanks again for listening - again - and I appreciate the input... But I gotto run -maybe tomarrow I'll have something - Ill post here when I do. Thanks again Mark |

Ok it sounds much better, and I think this one may be the best out of the three, but I will have to re-listen to them later as my hearing feels a little off at the moment.

Sorry my ears are still acting up. I mentioned the ringing to you once before (if you recall). I think it is allergies or something, but it makes things sound a llittle off, and it makes it hard to notice all the details, etc.
In any case, it sounds good... |

Hi Maddog,
nice track with nice ideas - clean sound, maybe a bit too soft, but this can be the compression effect of mp3-file format. Cool on high volume levels

Hey TravelRec... thanks... but Im not sure how much louder I could have made it with out distorting... I see it peaks at just under 0db... ?? Did you turn up the volume on the player embedded in the page I posted - it defaults to 50% volume ??

Hi Maddog,
you can do some psycho-acoustic volume upgrade, if you use a multiband compressor plugin (dependent on your mastering software) in the master track and push the levels up for 3 or more different frequency bands with some soft clipping. You will hear a great difference in sound density, while the signal donīt pushes itself into distortion. So play a bit
