kX Musicians, Lets Collaborate
Hi Toad here,
Just heard on NPR about a U.S. Europe collaboration. Morning Edition:October 21, 2004 · Take two hip-hop artists on different sides of the Atlantic Ocean, add a dash of online communication, and you get the musical duo Foreign Exchange. Full story here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=4120037 Well I found this very insprirational, that 2 musicians that have never met in person and seperated by an ocean have release an album together. I sometimes have a hard time finding like minded musicians here in NC, USA to jam and experiment with. So im offering up my talents to any kX musicians that might be interested in collaboration. I like most types of music, but my roots are in rock. Im no virtuoso, but I consider myself to be a "descent" guitarist, keyboardest. Im not a singer but I try. Im learning the engineering aspect as well. Toadly http://www.schel.homestead.com/ http://www.purevolume.com/schelsullivan |

Cool idea this, but anyway: I think it´s more interesting to find some musicians in your home area, before you look around the whole planet. The globalization comes early enough - I think. And it´s hard to understand people from other countries who speak different languages - music has it´s own language, sure - but how do you want to tell me what I should play or what your (or my) lyrics really mean?! I think, this is only a gag anyhow ... What do the other musicians here think about?

its an idea that brings influences in from different places - listenin to a track on the radio you can almost always pick which part of the world it is from, from the instruments in use, to the style of playing, and the vocals aswell… to combine that could be really effective

, I meant the story seems to be a gag (of music business), since I think it´s nearly impossible to make these things come true in these times, where the technology of the net needs some expandation to work effectively. You can´t do anything in real-time with your "neighbour" on the other side. You have to ship the material around and around and until the song is finished, 2 years are gone . But I can only speak for myself - maybe there is really potential... And--- speaking about lyrics is okay, but not for people with weak english knowledge - like me!

Your command of the English language is great. From your posts here (and ive read alot of them) I would think that english is your 1st language!.
Any way, Ive setup a semi-local friend's PC with kX and cubase, and we are going to experiment with this idea and see how it works. We will be rendering our work to seperate tracks, zipping them up and sending them to each other via www.yousendit.com which allows files up to 1 gig all for free. If any are interested I'll update you guys on how practical it is and upload some of our work for auditioning. Also if any kX musicians looking for someone to add keyboard parts to some of their work Id be interested in giving it a shot. Toad Last edited by Toadly_Ossum; Nov 8, 2004 at 06:32 PM. |

Toad, I want to collaborate with it. I'm guitarist, bassist and sound technician and find that it could be interesting for some of us. May be just sending an mp3 mix, tempo, and we could send each other a solo or a bass line or whatever it could be.PS: and my english is pathetic. ![]() PS TravelRec, your english is quite better than mine!!!

, you have to know that writing and speaking are two different things - I can take time here before I write down my thoughts - nothing for the real world - and my dictionary lies not far away if my brain stops it´s working ...Greetings! |
