How to make a pc game
Hey this is the first thread I made when joining this forum. I am completely new to this forum, and I'm not sure if this is where I should post this thread, if not please tell me where threads about software engineering and game creation should belong. Also, I am completely new to making games, whether its for ps3's, xbox 360, pc, or even a wii. I don't even know where to start. So if anyone could point me in the right direction and give me some links, free programs, or tutorials it would be very helpful!

What's your background? Do you know any programming language?
You can create games with C++ and other versions, Java, even Assembly, but apart the programming bit, you will also need graphics and possibly sound and music (though not necessary). So, what do you know?

Also, if you have few hours to spend, go to this channel and watch all Matt Barton's interviews/chat with game developers. Very interesting stuff in there and IMO a must watch for all future game developers.

You could download Unreal TDK for free from unreal website and play around with it. There are a lot of tutorials on the web on how to use it step by step and you can even launch what you made so far and run around with a gun shooting stuff that you made. I have seen some people make some very nice demos with it.
