creating/viewing ftp site
I have just finished setting up my own ftp site, with WindowsXP Pro.
I have two browsers that I use. With Mozilla's Firebird, when I type in my ftp site, I get exactly what I am suppose to get. A directory structure like I have set up to be viewed, and the file that is available. There is nothing else visible. With IE, when I type in my ftp, the window is split, like the Window's explore window. On the right is listed my file, but on the left side there are different categories to choose, all pertaining to my computer, making it look like if you use IE to access my ftp, that you have access to my entire computer. But yet with Mozilla this is not the case. Is it set up that since I am the creator of the ftp, that when accessing my ftp through IE, me and only me has this access? that no one else can see these different categories within my computer? your quick responses appreciated. ps...I know there are other programs better for ftp, and I have one but wanting to get the hang of creating my ftp, so utilized what the system has to offer first. thanxz River~

did I answer my own question?
OK, after doing some reading, other than "only" how to set ftp up, I take it that this is one of the purposes of having an ftp site, so you can access your own personal computer while you are traveling and away from your own computer. if this is the case then, you would need some way of viewing all of your files, so when the ftp creator accesses his ftp site, the browser then transforms in to an explore type window, allowing you access to the files.
correct assumption? and what about when I access my ftp site with Mozilla Firebird and I can only see the one test file at my ftp site, and don't have access to any other file, is it because Mozilla doesn't allow this, or that there is a plug-in needed? River~
