Bulletin Board software

What is your favourite board and why? I prefer Invision, but VBulletin is definitly the most feature-filled board. Invision is free, very easy to set up and use and very good looking board. Your opinions?

I like phpBB2. It's fast, got plenty of features and it's free. From an admin stand point, I couldn't tell you much about the boards that cost money.

vBulletin or Deluxe Portal 2.0 when it finally comes out. phpBB 2 is fairly nice, but with a couple annoying things, and Invision looks like its high quality, although i have never run it.

Well, I can talk from user point and from moderator point - I prefer Invision because it is free. phpBB is good too, but Invision looks nicer (example 1 or example 2)

phpBB doesn't allow pasting or quoting when you use Mozilla or a derivative
Probably a bug in their javascript

phpBB's admin interface is... barren. I don't like it, not enough admin features, kind of a weird setup.

I hate making templates in phpBB. Is it any easier with Invision boards? Or even Ikonboard?

Features are great and all, but I'm not going to like it if it is a hassle to customize it.

I've never used Invision or Ikonboard, I am only familiar with the template system in DP2 (which i wrote), and the vB template system.

Have you looked at Invision? It has very good posting engine (Bold/Italic/Quote etc. placing). Moderator is good. Don't know about admin. I would like to hear your (such expirienced PHP-er) opinion.

I did look at invision, although not too closely, I've been planning on taking a more thorough look into it sometime this month.

I took a better look at the Admin interface in Invision board today, not too bad. Language set files are a good idea, however, in my experience a pain to impliment... I can't stand coding with them, lol. The options available are good. Seems not too bad, although a lot of the layout bugs me, and IMO they should be using XHTML, which vB3 and DP2 will be using (although vB3 doesn't validate yet)

I think overall Invision is about the best free board available. Can't stand the <ibf.lang.blah> in the templates though.

Yeah, I've been examining the Invision board yesterday on my local server; def. has 'everything' I've been missing in phpBB! There's also a nice phpBB > Inv. converter and it WORKS!

I know, I thought the same when I first saw it (@HydrogenAudio) - much better than phpBB, and free!
