Prices are standard for Canada. Comparing the 9 (in stock) items on the newegg.ca frontpage to the average cheapest website where I order stuff, newegg only had lower prices for 2 of the 9 items.

Gives me another source to pricematch from though.

Hopefully they'll notice that Judas and lower their prices. This outfit is definitely numero uno overall down here in the US.

Re: newegg.ca is now open for business

Prices aren't bad but nowhere near as low as the US site. I have noticed many free shipping deals. I'll probably buy some smaller hardware from them or use them for price matching.

To be fair, our dollar is only around $0.80 USD now, so I'd expect prices to reflect that.

It infuriates me when they don't, however...

A good friend of mine in a car club I'm in spends half his time here in South Florida and the other half up in Canda and he bitches about the same thing all the time. Especially about car parts!

Re: newegg.ca is now open for business

newegg.ca charges more taxes for the province of Québec than NCIX.

Taxes (newegg.ca) : Newegg.ca - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
Taxes (NCIX.com) : NCIX.com - Canada's Premier Computer Store - Great Technology, Service and Selection.

Re: newegg.ca is now open for business

Avoid Newegg.ca at all costs. This is not a Canadian outlet, it is still the same US warehouse with Canadian Flags and prices. Be warned, products ship from California so get ready to pay your duty, outrageous brokerage fees, and I have now been informed that I must pay California State tax. Add all your fees on to the final cost and the deal you thought you were going to get is long lost and you end up paying more than you would have retail. They do not tell you that it is shipping from the states anywhere on there site. With the flag, canadian pricing, and them saying that they do not ship internationally is definite misleading the consumer. boycott this site and go to others like tiger direct, or memory express, canadian companies that are truly in canada and you pay what you are told you will pay, nothing more.

I've been keeping tabs on some of the deals on Newegg.ca and the fact is there's rarely anything cheaper on that site than some of the big Canadian online retailers so if what you say is true we're not missing out by going to a different supplier.

You are right. California law specifically states that you cannot charge sales taxes for items being sold out of country, or even out of state. In this case it's considered a foreign export, and as such is exempt from taxation at the time of purchase. In the reverse, anyone in California that buys from outside of the state/country, the first $800 is exempt from taxes.

My best guess is that they saw "CA" somewhere on the purchase order, and figured that meant California since that is what they use for the state code. So, if they've charged you California taxes, fight it. Call them back up, and get them to refund the money.

I think what is happening is that we are being charged GST/HST. Reason being they are selling merchandise in Canada so they must have to pay taxes to Canadian gov. Also anything I have ordered from them ships from NJ

Have you even ordered from them? Doesn't sound like it to me. No you do not pay California Tax. No you will not get hit with outrageous brokerage fees. Newegg charges $1 in brokerage. All you do is pay both the GST & the PST from your province.

And you would have to be a mad man to choose Tigertirect.ca over Newegg.ca
