Thumbs Up! Accurate IT Services

AccurateIT. Monitors, Computers, Accessories, Notebooks, Used monitors, 17 inch, 19 inch, 21 inch, electronics repair, appliance repair, amplifier repair, high end repair, monitor repair, DLP Repair, DLP TV Projector service

I'm something of a 'dinosaur', and still prefer a high quality CRT over an LCD. A few weeks ago my Sony FW900 (which I bought from a Craig's List ad for 150.00) gave up the ghost

Now finding high quality CRTs these days isn't an easy task. However I'm fortunate that AccutateIT is not all that far from me. I've known about AccurateIT for some time, and was about to buy a 21" Sony GDM-5411 when I stumbled upon the 24" FW900 on Craig's List, and got it instead.

So, I checked out their web site and saw that they had FW900's in various 'flavors', and decided it get my replacement from them.

They have FW900's ranging in price from $319.00 - $999.00. Since I'm on a fixed income, I opted for one of the lower priced ones at $399.00. It is a "Grade B", which is described on their site as:

Quote:
Grade B:
CRT Monitor has similar reliability and functionality as Grade A product, however it will have small to moderate screen blemishing. Allowed blemishes are hair like scratches on the anti glare picture tube coating, or very slight, barely noticeable screen shadowing (permanent image on the screen left by static desktop image). We always make sure that blemishes allowed on our Grade B stock are very minor and do not impair functionality of the product. Grade B displays are excellent cost effective solution for computer gaming, DVD viewing as well as word processing, e-mailing and other general use. Grade B CRT stock is covered by our basic 6 months product warranty.
Full info here: AccurateIt. Grade Info.

Well, I drove up there, told them what I wanted, and they said OK, but I'd have to wait for an hour or so until they ran a few checks on the monitor, and made sure that it was adusted properly. So I paid for it, went off to have a cup of coffee and a snack, came back and it was ready to go.

However, it wasn't boxed yet. It was still on the bench with the calibration software still running on it, and I was taken back to take a look at it to see if it met with my approval. I was happy, they boxed it up, and I went on my merry way.

Now, a week later, I've been checking this thing out HARD, and I just can not see ANY of the blemishes that supposedly makes this a 'Grade B" monitor. Yeah, the plastic around the screen is a bit the worse for wear, but nothing REALLY noticable. Personally I'd grade it as an A- according to their own scale, and that puppy is listed at $799.00

As good as I thought my first one was, the IQ on this one is even better. There is a difference when a professional calibrates a CRT that what I was able to do.

All in all, I'm MORE than pleased with this, and since I had the advantage of actually SEEING their business as opposed to online ordering, I saw that they are as advertised, and are a well run organization with knowledgeable, and helpful employees.

They do sell new and refurbished LCD monitors as well, so if you are looking for a LCD at a decent price, and don't mind that it's a refurbished one, it might be worth looking at them as well.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them, and will be doing business with them again.

thanks for the excellent review...I looked into them a few months ago after you posted about them in another thread...I was looking to replace my current Sony GDM-F520 CRT...I even called them up at the time and they seemed very friendly and knowledgeable

what worried me was that I wasn't sure about the quality of their products and if the monitor was in worse condition then their webpage indicated or if the CRT would just die after a few weeks/months

based on your review it seems they are a legit place to buy used CRT's...I only wish they had the GDM-F520 is stock as I would jump on that...do you have any idea what the 'best' 21' CRT is that they have available?
