Newegg.ca put to the test...
In attempt to get what i need...
I went searching around with ncix/tigerdirect/newegg.ca and so forth and interestingly enough, even after the handling fees and shipping fees adding up to nearly 100 bucks ontop of the order (509 dollar order), they were still cheaper then all the others by anywhere from 30-200 dollars. (wtf?) All i ordered was the following: APC UPS 1500va LCD 865watt Back-ups Corsair 1000watt Modular Power Supply Now the interesting thing.. Shipping got me a bit confused, UPS doesn't ship to my location but was the only option for the corsair psu however, the apc unit only provided Purlator shipping..... I wasn't about to pay 60 dollar more for UPS Expidited shipping. I will however laugh my ass off if purlator also dilivers the UPS shipped package. I was also charged PST and GST for my order, as well as customs due to come up from the states.... but like i said, it still was cheaper then the alternative. Since this is my FIRST major purchase, and being online (going to chance it again because i've been burnt so many times in the past by ncix/tiger direct and so forth)... i figured i'd get 2 products, that have a damn good warranty and product support. APC by far one of the best and most reliable specially warranty and support wise... they even warranty stuff that they even state that's out of warranty... can't go wrong there.. and Corsair... shoulda be a problem. I was leary about pushing the submit button though...... hopefully things go through, my credit card however may get revoked because their "phone number validation" may not work. We'll see...... $600 bucks in 2 parts isn't something i like to do very often online.

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
Have faith Judas, I know you have had bad experiences online but I have had great luck with either NewEgg.ca or NCIX
NewEgg stuff comes from the states but the volume they move allows them cheap brokerage fees. I usually go with ground shipping even though it's slower but unless things are high priority the extra cash on shipping often ends up only a day or two quicker. Dont be surprised when Purolator does deliver your UPS shipment if they dont provide local service |

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
I wasn't allowed Ground standard shipping.. only UPS for the corsair psu.. and Purlator for the corsair..... i wish i could have chosen normal ground snail pace mail style shipping, would have at least knocked my shipping charges to half as much..... but shit, i didn't have a choice.... just glad that newegg was extremely cheap in comparison.
the only reason i decided to kick the bucket and go online was because my supplier hadn't been able to get my pricing let alone availability on either the corsair psu or APC ups... and i was kinda getting fed up with waiting for it, i was suggested to just get the enermax galaxy psu they had.. but i wanted the corsair.... I've always wanted to get a modular PSU since the orginal X-Connect Ultra Modular 500watt PSU that blew up exactly 30 days after ordering it from NCIX and neither X-Connect or ncix would warranty it. That was my First Order i ever placed online and has always been the pinicle of my disatisfaction for online ordering.

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
i'm kinda stoked about the APC unit... i've had my 1000va APC unit for nearly 8 years (give or take... most likely give).... the sucker still passes battery tests, works great... and does it's job, last year when we were without power.. i ran my one machine for nearly 30 minutes before shutting it down, and then plugged in a few lights and was the only house for probably 40 miles with lights on.... pitch black out and my house looked like it was glowing.

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
The 'handling fees' are just the PST & GST + $1. That is one thing bad about newegg is although you are buying out of province you have to to PST because it is coming from the USA. Good thing I live in Alberta

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
OK what in the hell, they can't verify my credit cards billing address information, at which point like last time, i phoned my credit card company, and inputted each individual right down to each dotted "i" and striked "t"
I mean i can't get anything more precisely perfectly done and newegg consistantly is dropping the ball. Why are they having troubles with such a simple thing. And why the hell has my card been sucessfully charged by newegg when i first placed the order emediately, and yet they say they can't verify... wtf is going on. at this rate my own supplier might have gotten a better price.

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
someone explain to me why the shipping and billing address and information has to be identical... why do they even give you the option.... they've now locked me out of changing anything but my address 1 and 2 lines..
i've fed the correct credit card information in for billing address from the start.. but they apparently won't accept anything different for shipping address even if the primary address matches the credit card information.. But they can't ship to a PO-BOX therefore how in the do they expect this to work"I'm sorry we can't verify your credit cards billing address, please revise it" followed after revising it to fit "I'm sorry we cannot ship to PO Boxes, please provide a building number or alternative address" Repeating indefiniteately....

tell them you live in that PO box, it's bigger than they think and quite comfortable.....
I know.... not funny. Sorry you're getting the short end Judas. I know you aren't doing it but there is a lot of shipping fraud out there and that's why the crap rules......

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
well in neweggs help section it mentions that the only way to ship to a different address then the credit card owner is to verify the credit card itself.... but it won't verify which is what's screwing things up.. so i don't know what in the hell to do..
i sent newegg an email.. but i haven't gotten a responce.... i mean after the 2nd or 3rd time that i was unable to verify, they should have emediately contacted me for any number of reasons.

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
That's odd; through all the stuff I've ordered online, my credit card billing address has never matched my shipping address, and I've never had a problem with it.
You should be alright as long as the billing address you specify on the site is the same as the billing address you have set through your credit card issuer. Only time I had an issue with my credit card was when I put in the wrong expiry date in Steam, but it took less than five minutes to fix and start downloading after initially inputting the wrong data.

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
Zelig, i agree, i've never had the same EXACT billing and shipping address...... simply because it's impossible to have the billing address go to the shipping address and vice versa.
But newegg won't accept it, and there suggestion to have a alternative address on the mastercard account apparently doesn't fly. Even ncix which i dispise didn't have an issue with me doing it this way.

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
lol..i'm confused..
finally without giving them any form of street number or building.... they shipped both products. even more confusing i had only the option for purlator for the APC UPS, yet according to newegg UPS is handling that one to. we'll see how this progresses as i've never heard of them being able to ship to a po box before lol

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
well wtf..
I received the APC unit which according to newegg... was shipped out early this morning.. it was according to newegg... shipped from manufacturer in the states by UPS.. but the purlator guy showed up before 12, even though he doesn't have an address.. he knows me and knew where to go. The box and papers state shipped by purlator only, and it was shipped from calgary. So now i've got a shiny new APC 1500VA 865watt Battery Backup with LCD display. Going home to eat and plug this sucker in ![]() the corsair psu was saposed to have shipped before the apc unit. i should also note.. that i had ordered from staples.ca over a week ago which shipped via purlator to me from saskatoon.. and it arrived yesterday....

Re: Newegg.ca put to the test...
omg i love this apc backup..
that LCD display is absalutely brilliant.... You can view amperage/wattage/voltage not to mention a number of other things right on the unit itself.. nice bright red numbers and letters. Fired up my computer, and the machine draws a solid 450watts right off the hop and once in windows drops to about 220watts. When i load up 3dmark06, and start the test, the draw increases to 550-600watts. So this basically states that yes, the 1000va apc unit i was using was accurately showing an overload as the unit was designed to provide a maximum 600watts (and over 8 years likely has dropped) I just hope with the 1000watt Corsair psu and if i decide to get a 2nd HD4870x2, i think i've got the headroom for the 265watt's more i can draw before the apc unit calls foul and figures i'm drawing to much again.

Yeah....even here in the states Newegg doesn't do 'snail mail' / USPS. The slowest shipping they offer is on a select group of small products that people have bitched about shipping being ridiculuos for the size of the product (ie. mice, ram, cables etc) and thats called "Egg Saver" and it is still DHL which is tendered to USPS when it hits Kansas for me and then USPS ships it from there across the state line and into my box. (3-7 day shipping)
