UK Postage Discrepancies

right, I'm fed up of this.
just because I don't live in a city centre I have to pay extortionate postage for stuff.
first up - Novatech
ordered a graphics card, and to have it sent to an address 10 mins outside the city centre was gonna cost 9 quid!! 2 pound something to have it sent to missus' office in town.

second up - Ebuyer
last night ordered a laptop and some cables and bits and pieces, and again they wouldn't post for free outside the city proper, and despite having spent several hundred pounds had to cough 6 quid for postage

its not like I live on a tiny island that's only accessible via helicopter for half the year.
I'm 40 mins drive from the centre of one of the countries biggest citys
why are they allowed to keep ripping us off like this
it's crooked and unfair, there should be something that can be done

[/vent]
