Amazon.ca ... Even their employee's recognize something is wrong

I've made rather frequent orders from amazon.ca.... i'd say 60-70% of which are all Blu-ray orders... but many other have been either books/vinyl/cds/computer parts or whatever else they may have on there through the Canadian site.. as i prefer to avoid the American.com site as well... things don't seem to work as well.

Anyways, about a year and a half ago i had order a us robotics USB modem for a specific computer system that i had built for a business, they needed it for their cardlock fuel system programs and such, using the modem to connect via a dialup connection to each cardlock, download the necessary information, and process it for upload and access from any branched location. And it works flawlessly under windows 7 x64... Fast too.

Today i received an order for another one from another user that is a die hard Dialup user..... don't ask.. i can't explain it....

Anyways, almost every single laptop manufactured today lacks modems, and i informed him that the best solution is this exact modem, just plug and play.

He gave the go ahead on it and i proceeded through the amazon order and picked up a few other items to guarantee the free shipping and hell i hadn't ordered a few new blu-rays for quite some time anyways.


Proceeded through the checkout, picked the address i had used before for every single order I've ever made including the purchase of the previous modem order.

Got to the point where it gave me a RED FLAG and unable ship message for only the US Robotics modem..... odd

Says it cannot ship to PO BOXES for this item..... bullshit, i amazon can and has... and no reason for them to stop...

Double checked everything and no dice, decided i'd create a new shipping address using my building number and street address.

"Main Street" is not a valid street address...... seriously? wtf

OK i'll using the other street address that many other people use when they run into this crap...... Railway Ave....... still invalid..

Last ditch effort, i'll use the damn Highway number, 45...... Highway 45..... invalid.

*sigh*..... can't use anything because as far as amazon's website is concerned for shipping, nothing excists or everything is invalid.

Last ditch effort was to place a call using their help system. I've never done it on amazon... but i was for the record.... SHOCKED at how incredibly well the system works.

Used the CALL ME feature, which you punch in your phone number and then hit the call me button.... the phone rang INSTANTLY....

picked it up, greeted by an automated system that let me choose my language, English obviously.... and then not more then 3 seconds later, had a representative that could help me on the line..

Frankly i can't think of anything or anyone else or company that has ever come anywhere near this form of excellence for a tech/help phone system. Brilliant and very impressed.

The lady on the other end spoke 100% pure north American english, no accent or anything to mess me up, didn't speak to quickly like they had guzzled a gallon of expressor and been feeding off pixy stiks their entire life.

I had before getting on the phone, went through my purchase history to find the exact amazon invoice/purchase reference number for the last time i bought the modem so that i could give it to them for proof of being able to do this before.

I gave the number first, they pulled it up, told them to take note of the item us robotics modem, and my shipping address information and where i bought it... all identical to what it is currently, and then informed them that i was unable to purchase the same thing at the moment. She thought well that's odd, and proceeded to access my account, take a look at the cart, and then proceeded to try and do the checkout FOR me. Running into the exact same issues, i informed her of the other address changes i had attempted with no luck.... she confirmed. And then i was placed on hold for approximately 5 minutes.

When she came back she said that she can only determine at this time that there apparently is a problem/glitch in the system for that specific product.. and that she has created a report and ticket to their own support department to figure out how to resolve the matter as soon as possible. I asked if she would please inform me when this would be resolved. She said it could take a few days, and that she would email/call to let me know the end result as soon as they have a clear answer.


Honestly, aside from the weird issue that i am having... I don't think I've ever had more pleasant of a help/support/service experience in my life, specially through a phone.

Wooow, that is very kind from them, I also appreciate when company has sense for people who need help through their help-desk.

There is nothing better when you feel that company care about you as a customer.

Well that's extremely displeasing.... i couldn't wait any longer for the part i needed, and proceeded to get it delivered to my sisters address... which will cost me an additional 20-30 dollars to ship from there to me.

Another Amazon rep couldn't explain why my street address was invalid and wouldn't be accepted either. I asked her to load up google maps and i pointed her to my location... she filled in my address again and again would not be accepted.

I'm waiting on a responce for that as well.

Apparently can't use PO Box anymore.. and i cannot use my Street/Building Address...
