ParcelMonkey - dialbolical service

I sent an item recently using Parcel Monkey that got damaged during transit. It was sent via City Link so I thought "it's fine, it's more than covered".
When I filed a claim for the item, they said to me that they don't cover the item, it's under their exclusions. So, I went along and read their list of exclusions.
Wow. My item was insured for £500 and, after looking at the list of exclusions, I established that it's not physically possible to send items that cost £250.
So, I pressed for information. I'm not getting a claim, I get it but I still want info so I don't make the same mistake twice. I'd already checked with City Link and they cover the item that I sent.

They replied with a a message saying that they don't cover damages, they only cover loss of goods. No damages are covered for any item that are booked through them. None. A courier service that doesn't cover for any damages whatsoever.

Needless to say, I'm never using them again.

Re: ParcelMonkey - dialbolical service

is it City Link that didn't offer cover for any damage ??
or was it the fact that you booked through parcelmonkey that meant that any cover that city link may have offered was null and void ?

I always use City Link through Parcel2Go personally, but I may have to read the small print real carefully if I send anything of value in future..

Re: ParcelMonkey - dialbolical service

The claim was through Parcel Monkey as it's their City Link account.
Apparently Parcel Monkey's contract with City Link doesn't cover damages. I find it beyond ridiculous that they don't cover damages and they have a dirty great long list of exclusions for the lost items.

So, if a parcel sent through them is worth anything substantial and gets lost or broken, tough.

If it was a case of them not covering for damages if the item meets certain criteria, fair enough, it's my fault for not reading the fine print. It's the fact that they don't cover for any damages whatsoever that gets me rattled.
It'd be like putting your money in a bank and not being covered for the bank being robbed.
