Oh I forgot to say- the person who lied to me repeatedly was Jeanette.. then she stopped answering e-mails.

The guy who lied to me after that was Ed.. but it was probably more his lack of knowledge about what "accounting" could do, and what they couldn't- (how much they could refund)... at least that is what he wants me to think.

Needless to say they both mislead me and said things would happen that did not. I have all the e-mails to prove it. I think in the end Ed stopped answering emails too- but by that point I had given up.

ferret2004 has a spectacular aura aboutferret2004 has a spectacular aura about

I've ordered quite a few things from newegg over the past 3 years and had no problems. My dad ordered the parts for his new comp from Newegg a few weeks ago, no problems except the case arrived broken. They sent him a new case right away and let him keep the broken one, which is cool because the 450w power supply in it worked fine

I've done business with Newegg for several years, and have NEVER had anything but great service from them. Only had to RMA one part, (XFX 7800GS extreme vid card) and they gave me NO hassle about it, and I got my card credited within 2 days of their receipt of the part. Yeah, I have to pay Kahleeforneeya sales tax, but so what? I live here. That goes with the turf. If you don't like paying sales tax, move somewhere that doesn't have it.

I have also ordered a hell of a lot from newegg over the years.

Timeline:
1/20/2006 I ordered $6,525.18 worth of product from NewEgg.
1/23/2006 NewEgg shipped items.
1/25/2006 Items delivered

The order was large enough it took seven seperate shipments with seven seperate tracking numbers. All shipped and were delivered less than five days from the time I ordered it. This was ordered late Friday night and the whole thing was shipped on Monday!!! All items were shipped via UPS.

January 20 was a Friday.
January 23 was on Monday.
January 25 was on Wednesday.

So if this is a "ghetto ass hole in the wall" I have no idea how they could put an order like this together on the same day.

Some of the items were very heavy too.

Two of these:
Thermaltake Tai-Chi VB5001SNA Black/ Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case with liquid cooling system - Retail
$429.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133171

Well I had everything from NewEgg. I also had an order from ZipZoomFly that came in and my two All-In-Wonder X1800-XL cards were here from Shop At ATI.

Both systems I built have been together now for a while.

I also ordered 2GB of RAM for my wife's laptop on 4/10/2006. The RAM came in yesterday on 4/12/2006. I installed the RAM and ran memtest-86 and Prime95 torture test on it. So done deal in two days.

I have yet to have a problem with NewEgg and I have order from them all the time.

When I first read the "ghetto ass hole in the wall" I pictured a huge pile of boxes with my Tai-Chi somewhere in the bottom of the pile.

I don't know how NewEgg is able to pull my order and make it go out the door and I really don't care.

As long as they can ship it and it comes to me in the same shape it was shipped originally to NewEgg how could I complain?

The only problem I've had with newegg wasn't even them, it was UPS. Newegg says 3 day shipping and they're right - it took UPS 3 days to ship it from point A to point B. It just took UPS an additional 3 days to pick the thing up before they shipped it. Gotta read that fine print.

I love their shipping for some of their product, but if its out of state it almost always late. Every box I have gotten from them has been damaged and RMA's take almost 2 weeks sometimes. Also they ship items in the wrong size boxes to save money. Also sales tax is horrid, had to pay 100 just in tax to get my whole rig here, I'm goin tiger direct from now on...
Then how would you explain this, perchance? http://www.anandtech.com/IT/showdoc.aspx?i=2694 Did Anand just make that all up? Does a hole in the wall maintain a stragetic network of warehouses across the nation purely to facilitate faster shipping? People drop empty cardboard boxes all the time.

I built my entire system and have bought more parts from NewEgg and ZZF, and have never had anything damaged or needing a return. Not one. Everything was safely shipped securely in the right size boxes, and took 4 or 5 days at the most.

As for the taxes... I may be wrong but I believe tax laws are such that if you buy online from a business, you will pay taxes from them if they ship from within the state, or they have offices and/or warehouses within that state.

Quote:
The U.S. federal government historically has defined the nexus of a company as the place where it maintains a physical presence. For example, if a company's headquarters were located in California, its nexus would be in California, and it would be required to collect sales tax there. However, the nexus issue does not stop with headquarters. If the same company had stores or branch offices in other states, each of those states would be considered a nexus as well, with the same tax responsibilities applying to the company. If the company had a nationwide presence (as do national chains like Wal-Mart and Target), it would be responsible for collecting taxes in all states.
